I've discovered I've got probably just as many shirts as I have jackets. Now I've taken out the Old Navy and x Army ones as close enoughs and just taken the 4 main names. The Wested gets eliminated, it's a very serviceable shirt, but it's just too light coloured, and some of the details, especially the very big/long epaulette letting it down. Surprisingly, the Todd is tonally similar to the NH but is very yellow to the naked eye, it is also very thick and has none of the sheen of the other NH or the AB. It also has a straight epaulette whereas the other two narrow towards the button. The Todds shirt pockets are big, very similar in size to the Wested. Unlike the other 3 shirts the Todd pleat is a separate piece sewn on, the other 3 have a real folded double pleat. The NH epaulette button is about an inch closer to the neck as is the AB. The shirt pockets are very similar in size and the way the fabric reacts on the AB is a good recreation of the NH.... but it is also very different. The NH is silky, the AB is linen-like. The AB looks like the colour we expect, the NH IS the colour of the original. My ranking. NH (The king). AB (If you are in Europe and can't find a NH, it would be my choice) ... Todds (Makes sense if you are in the US) ... Wested. (If you get it in the shop or as a bundle it is a no brainer).

Great comparison KT! This is the only way to do it, IMO. You have all the offerings you are comparing, right there with you. So many people try to do that using photos of other people's items. To really know what the shirts are like, you have to have in in your hand (or on your back). Thanks for posting, Ken

Great kT! The next thing you should do is a trousers' comparison! Indygr Cheers guys, pictures really only tell so much. The fabric is really a big part of this. The oddest part is the closest fabric I've has is on a $5 army surplus tropical weight British army shirt, it's totally the wrong colour, but it matches weight and thickness and even sheen. As for the trousers.... No need.

Thanks - this is great! I read for a long time the NH shirt is the best but unfortunately it is very difficult to get one nowadays. I don't know when and if Wested will start production and replicate the exact details as the NH shirt and the Raider pants which I read on other posts. Thanks.

I have both the NH and the AB shirt... and I love them both! However, is it just me or does the NH shirt seem to have more breathing capabilities than the AB shirt?

Hey Kt,
Is Todd's shirt right; or the others? Was the pleat/stripe actually added, like Todd's; or was it an actual pleat, like the others? Didn't Todd handle a screen used shirt to make his? Did AB or Wested handle screen used stuff for theirs? I know NH was the bench mark, but even NH shows some "details creep" on the pants details, so is his shirt right on this, or Todd's? I know you've seen and photographed the original- what do you think?

The original shirt has a real pleat, it is not an added strip. All the other shirts, Wested, AB and NH have a very similar (to each other) "real" pleat construction. This is not however exactly the way the screen pleat is constructed.
I'm do not know what Todd examined.
Todd's shirt is too thick, the wrong colour and the pockets are too big. (among other things).

Yes, I agree, the denser weave of the NH makes it less breathable then the NH. EDIT: Yes, I agree, the denser weave and slightly heavier weight of the AB makes it less breathable then the NH.

Excellent job on this comparison, KT! It's always nice to see the major contenders in any gear category squaring off directly against one another. It's also nice to see how different the color between a new NH and a new AB shirt is. (The color between my very old MBA shirt and my new AB shirt is much closer, though still different, but that's mostly due to the color fading on my MBA shirt after a decade of washing and wearing.) Thanks for posting this!

Great job on the Comparrisons KT. An NH Shirt is Noel Howard the original maker of the movie shirts. Magnoli's shirts are nice but too dressy for my tastes. I would go with either the AB or the Todd's. Cheers, John

JC I believe that Todd shirt is from an early batch, the pics were taken in February.
I sold the shirt to Erri who also sold it on eventually.

So if Todd's got a new batch, do anyone here bought it? I'd like to know if the yellow tint is still an issue 'cuz if the color has been corrected, I,d go with it.

In your opinion, next to the NH shirt version, which other shirt version is the closest overall color, design, etc., and most screen-accurate Indy/Raiders style shirt version, to the shirts used in the original Indy/Raiders movie?

Having tried the Wested and examining photos of the Magnoli and Todd's, I would say definitely the Adventurebilt. I have 2 of them!

I got the Wested Indy shirt and I think it looks pretty good. I think the color it is pretty comparable to the screen shots on film. The fabric feels pretty good as well. I don't know how it really compares to the AB or the NH because I have not delt with them, but I am happy with it.
