Blues, there may be something to that. It does come up a lot in questions about Wested, doesn't it? About room for layering first.
The shoulder seam falling slightly past the shoulder is actually a feature of the Raiders jacket. So by getting an 80s cut, the shoulder seam suddenly is not screen accurate because the seams are at the shoulder line; but the jacket fits more snug. Weird trade off, huh?

Just got back from my Tatjana the leather tailor. She's taken in the jacket pretty much as described above in IndyBlue's diagram -- 4 cm on either side in the armpit area. She's also taking in the upper sleeve, making it a little narrower so it fits perfectly into the narrower arm hole.
I tried it on for measurement after she had already taken it in but before she completed the job to make sure it was OK. It looks a lot better. She said she could take it in a bit more but advised against it in case I do wear it with a sweater or sweat jacket -- I should still be able to move -- so we left it as is, 4 cm off on either side.
What's funny though, is that she hated the back panel. Like most Indy jackets, my pleats are a tad open and have no elastic in them to keep them shut. It doesn't really bother me. Indy's jacket's pleats also hung wide open.
But Tatjana actually wanted to "fix" the jacket by completely removing the back panel and getting rid of the bothersome pleats once and for all!
"Uh, no, no," I said. "Let's leave it as it is. I like it like that."
It was pretty funny. She just didn't see the aesthetic value, let alone the questionable practicality, of the panel and pleats. So much for Hollywood costume jackets!

Here is my entry for the "Flying Squirrel Contest". I think I lost, hands up,...er..down. This is my new G&B Flightsuits Lamb Expedition. Nary a sign of the flying squirrel syndrome. The underarm area is nice and high in the pit, and it really helps with ease of movement. Like I stated before, I tried to bring this arguement up over at COW, but was stifled like Edith on "All In The Family". Looks like I was right. Thanks Gibson&Barnes. 'Blues

Zero squirrelage with that one! I know exactly what you mean about bringing up anything having to do with an Expedition's features vs. a Wested over at COW. It immediately turns into a war instead of a conversation or comparison, and is almost always locked. What happened to discussing the pros and cons of each piece of gear, so we could all make the best purchasing decisions? Well, that's definitely not the case here at the Lounge, and I'm not saying that to try and pat us on the back or anything. I want to see the best and worst about these things, so we can all benefit. I'll admit, I used to be very naive about the Expedition and it's accurate features. The main problem, other than my hard headed attitude was that nobody was ever allowed to talk about the Expedition at any length over at COW. It was swept under the rug and the thread locked in an attempt to keep Peter happy, I'm guessing. Who knows? I never got to hear the whole story or see the differences until we started the Lounge. rest assured, Todd's jacket will also get equal coverage and scrutiny here, as we all need to know why we should or should not shell out good money for a nice jacket. Anyway.... sorry to derail this, but I felt like sharing my thoughts on the whole thing. Great looking Indy jacket there IndyBlues! Ken

Thanks Ken, and very well put. I love this new G&B, but in all fairness, it is too new for me to ever think about saying it is "better" or "worse" than my trusty Wested. I love my Wested jacket, and I always will. I'm already thinking about buying another one. This Expedition is a solid jacket through and through, but I won't make the mistake of letting the "newness" of it alter my judgement, and say it's the best jacket ever. Right NOW, it is the best jacket I own, only because it is new, and I'm a bit smitten with it. I see this alot on new gear purchases. "This is the best hat I've ever owned",...a week later,...."Um, there's a problem with this hat, and it's just a piece of junk, I should have held out for "so and so's" hat. I'm glad there is a place to post true feelings about a product, without fear of offending anyone. Isn't that what these forums were created for. To help inform and protect our fellow fans from buying junk, and getting ripped off. It's supposed to be a community. Not a "Keeping up with the Joneses" (no pun intended)neighborhood. I don't think I have ever posted anything with that intent, but some folks felt different. What can ya do?? 'Blues

Garzo, godo to hear the alteration worked out for the better for you. If you get a chance, a picture of the changed jacket would be great! Glad you got the results you wanted. That is a nice looking jacket, Indyblues, but just to keep the Squirrelage rating equal, these should be compared with the zipper at the level marked in green in the pic below. Still looks like it won't do it much, but KT disqualified his and took one of his zipped past the Squirrel meter also. If yours passes Zero Squirrel at the green level, GB WINS! ;D (I know, like the first thing you want to do is run off and snap another picture, right? LOL! Sorry, man.)

LOL, didn't even think of that. I'll get another pic, no worries. I will make sure the zipper falls within squirrelage regulations, this time 'round. 'Blues

IndyBlues,
despite the zipper placement, I can see you don't have a lot of excess leather and the sleeve connects up high. That's what my Wested looks like now! I get it Thursday.
I've never seen a G&B Expedition up close, but I do own a G&B ANJ3 and love it. Fits perfectly and has a great cut. Makes me look quite dashing if I say so myself.
Tone, thanks! will post as soon as I get the jacket and take a quick shot, hopefully before next week as I'll be out of town for about a week then.

;D Alright, KT. Back in the running. I can see by what Garzo's said, your jacket has zero squirrelage by the seams, as well, Indyblues. No need for re-entry. So now I'm just left with, "Man, that's a nice jacket!"

It's not just some Indiana Jones jackets that have the squirrelage factor. Even the Jedi have been seeing a recent influx of the little suckers. Ken

;D Arrrrr... Hear this ye scallywags, this ain't no place for ye Jedi squirrels and yer little dinky light bright butter knives. It's da year of ye pirate squirrels and we ain't wearin' no jackets either. Ye humans look like a bunch of ducks raisin' yer arms up and down like that in yer silly jackets. Steve
