Hey, everyone. I'm new but I just found this website and I was wondering if anybody kno anything about this indy jacket. The price is amazing!!!

Run, don't walk away from that site, based on the opinions of people who bought from them in the past. The jackets looked nothing like they were advertised to be and the image of the guy wearing the jacket is actually from Wested . They just pasted a different guy's face on the picture, which should tell you all you need to know about the company.

That's why they are not on our list of where to buy jackets.

I'm sure a Google search might turn something up or someone here may know someone that may access to super secret photos of someone who actually heard of a guy that used to lived next door to his Aunt that took a photo of someone's photo of the jacket his best friend bought, but.....

haha, thanks. got it, I'm thinking about springing for a wested sz 40 on ebay right now, but the guy says it's a cowhide. I didn't think wested made a cowhide. I kinda want the lamb.

I never bought one, and thank God I didn't! I did send the company an e-mail and I told them that I knew the picture they were using in their advertisement wasn't their jacket so I asked them if they could send me a picture of the jacket they were selling, so they did.

I used to have the shot but I don't know if I deleted it or if I've still got it somewhere on one of my many back-up disks. If I ever find it I'll post the shot again. I posted it waaaaay back after I got the e-mail. I think it was about two years ago.

Anyway, long story short the jacket is puffy, the leather looks like "pleather" and the jacket lining looks like a quilted pillow.

DO NOT BUY THIS JACKET!!!

Wested makes the Indy jacket in a load of different leathers currently: Lamb, worn look lamb, veg tanned lamb, cowhide, distressed cowhide, lambtouch cowhide and horse. They used to offer goat but no longer.

Does anyone know of a place to buy and Indy jacket in the Los Angeles area? I'm hesitant to order one online because I'm kinda tall and things never seem to fit right if I don't try them on first.
I could drive to San Diego, but thats really far, even though that jacket looks nice and a good price too.

"BEST" is a dangerous term in this hobby. Do you mean the "BEST" looking, the "BEST" constructed, the "BEST" as far as authenticity (gear that comes from the original maker) goes, or some combination thereof?

If you want to spend minimal money on a jacket that looks the part right out of the box (or bag, or whatever they come in ;D ), then the Todd's standard jacket for $150 is probably your best bet.

If you want a jacket that is sturdier than that, but doesn't quite capture every nuance, then there are several options from U.S. Wings

The G&B Expedition is a jacket that captures the Raiders look quite well and is also built to last, but costs more than most other options. That being said, it's definitely worth the money in my book.

And of course, Wested offers a wide range of different Indy jacket choices in various hides and design styles. And for authenticity Wested is really the only affordable choice.

I'm afraid only you can answer this one...which one is your favorite movie? Most folks like Raiders the best, and as such most prefer the Raiders style gear. However if you like LC, a lot of the Last Crusade style gear will also work for the newest movie (KotCS) as a lot of the gear is the same, or at least similar (jacket is similar design to LC, style of hat is somewhat similar, the khaki webbing belt is the same, Webley holster is the same, etc.) and considering that the pants, shirt and boots are more or less universal, that might be a good way to go. But like I said, it depends on what YOU want.

I'm a bit confused ...if you want an "authentic" jacket, meaning a jacket made by one of the original vendors who supplied the jackets for some of the Indy films, then the only feasible choice is to order a Wested.

If you want a jacket that is "screen accurate", then you have a few more choices, including a custom Wested with some special modifications, one of Todd's jackets, a custom adventure jacket from Magnoli or the G&B Expedition. All provide a high degree of accuracy (keep in mind I don't use "accurate" and "authentic" interchangeably), but they are all very different. Some are cheaper than others (like the Todd's), some require some special modifications to look a bit more accurate (Wested), and some are more expensive but come with quality and durability guarantees (G&B). If you want a look other than Raiders, that narrows your search to pretty much Wested and Magnoli.

Again, I think we're using two different definitions when it comes to the word "authentic". ;D If you want true "authenticity" then there are only two choices: David Morgan and whoever made the whips for the new movie (I forget).

If you want something that looks the part (screen accurate) then there are a number of skilled whip-makers who specialize in Indy whips. I suggest taking a trip through the whip section here to find out more. (I'm not much of a "whip guy", so I wouldn't know what to suggest anyway. ;D )

thanks again guys sorry that was so hard to read not very good at English. But anyways im going to buy the wested jacket. I need to know what to put for all of this. i know i could do this all by myself but i would like it to be as close as it can be to the movies. The Style of the jacket will be The Last Crusade. So if you could just tell me what to put for the closest look for this jacket as well as the best kind of leather for it to last and for look thanks so much for all your help im not sure about the Gussets and the inside pocket if it would look better with them than thats fine if not. then just tell me not to get that because it costs extra. thanks again

KT is sort of our resident Wested expert, so hopefully he'll chime in here. I'm not sure what mods (if any) are needed to get a screen-accurate Last Crusade style jacket from Wested. It seems to me that the LC jacket is the one they tend to get right most of the time, as far as details go. Anyways, here are my recommendations:

Leather - Lambskin
Lining - Cotton body w/ satin sleeves
Side Fastener - D-ring
X Box Stitch - No idea
Zip Type - All the Indy jackets had the British style zip (left side)
Gussets - I'm not sure, but I don't think the LC jacket had gussets
Inside Pocket - I always find an inside pocket handy

Around how long do the wested jackets, meaning the standard ROLA one, take to come?

The other day I was in Cabela's in Rapid City, SD for a couple of minutes (it was 8:45pm and the store closed at 9:00pm) and stumbled upon what looked to be an Indy jacket. It wasn't advertised as one, but I can see it easily passing as a "close enough" Indy jacket. Here is a link to it on the web site:

In the picture it looks black, not dark brown. The ones I saw in the store were a dark brown color. Overall, I thought it looked like a good, quality jacket. I wish I had more than a few minutes to look it over. Luckily, I had my camera so I took some pics of me with the jacket on.
