Mine's a 46, and my chest is measured at 43....So it's about 3 inches give? It actually feels very roomy, far "baggier" than my Todds for example...There's a lot more room...
It makes the jacket lovely for wearing, since it feels like it's not really constricting me... Great fit and I love the look too...It's sooo right for what I see in the film..A baggy size and a fair bit of room..Like Indy made a mistake when he was sized for the thing in the first place... ;-)
I wouldn't worry, sounds like you're "safe" mate!

Your chest measures out to 43 inches, but, you ordered a size "46"? Seems you went up one full size, which would account for the extra room.

Hey Kevin,
I'm also a size 43" and I have both a 44 and a 46. The 44 is great with just a shirt underneath. It is a bit snug if I want another layer, like a sweater or sweatshirt. The 46 is great to add a layer, and the side straps draw in very Indy-like. It by no means feels sloppy, just confortably fuller through the chest. They both wear beautifully - both in seal brown lambskin. I also have a 44 in Dark brown lambskin and it is a bit lighter weight than the seal brown...ideal for warm weather.

Kwad..
No..Actually, my usual size for Wested is a 46..Since when I'm training my chest and shoulders fill out quickest...Since I've not been training for a while I'm back down to 80kilos and thin, so the 46 is a touch baggy on me, but I don't fit easily into a 44 (Or I do, but it's very close)..So I stuck with what I knew this time out..

Tibor,
Thanks for the info. Very helpful! I'd like a trim fit on this one and hardly need to layer in my area.
Ben,
OK, that makes sense now (please excuse me, I'm a bit dense).
I would have stuck with what I usually wear (44r) but, I've lost a bit of weight since my last Wested. The weight loss coupled with the new sizing from Wested has got me all screwed up.
I'm sure I'm just being neurotic. Besides, If it doesn't fit, I can always put it up in the classifieds and start over.
Thanks again guys!!

Well, my Hero arrived yesterday......It fits PERFECT!!! Other jackets have come close to the look (namely my Todd's), but, this one absolutely nails it. I'm very happy I decided on the new seal brown soft goat. Peter's description of "soft, but quite meaty" is very accurate. The seal brown color is also spot on to my eyes. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

Congrats on the new jacket Kwad! I'll be looking forward to the pics myself, I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on a new Wested Hero jacket, but I'm just trying to decide on the type of leather to go for. Considering the fact that the pics on the Wested website aren't great, it'll be nice to see some photos of the goat to compare with the shrunken lamb, soft cowhide, etc. Congrats once again!

That's interesting, that jacket fits like my first 'Hero' I had that made to my usual '40', for my second I went a little tighter to a '38'. Both are good, the 40 is more a day to day fit, whilst on me the 38 is slightly better for gearing up.
Of course that one needs a bit of a break in, but I LOVE the pocket flaps, mine are a little under curved.

Nice looking jacket Ben. Kwad, I can't wait to see pics of yours. I agree with GCR, it is nice to be able to compare all the different jackets here since the pics Wested has on their site are not that good. I am going to order one the Hero jackets, so it is just a matter of sorting out which leather option I will choose.

These Hero jackets look really nice. I'm actually starting to regret getting a regular Raiders from them. Speaking of which, about how long does it take to receive your jacket after ordering? Two weeks?

It's about two weeks... One to make and one to send... More or less.. I'm in Japan, so it takes longer, but yeah, two weeks at the outside I'd say...
And the Hero is a lovely jacket...As KT says quite rightly...The jacket needs time to break in...And if I was worried I could form fit it a touch with cold water...But honestly..I like the slightly baggy sizing...It's close to what I see in Raiders....A rather strangely fitting jacket made just slightly too big for the wearer...With age this jacket will be exactly what I see...
I think!

Ben, that looks really nice on you! However, you made us wait for your Alden's to arrive until we got pics of your new jacket. Now that we get the pics, you left out your feet! ;D Here's some pics of my new seal soft goat Hero. The color and texture in the pictures is pretty close to what I see in person. Under the pigment, the leather is a light brown/tan color. The goat is thicker/heavier than my old Auth. Lamb ROLA. It was also rather waxy and firm when it first arrived, but, is softening up and beginning to drape just like lamb did. It is a tough leather and should hold up to years of wear. Anyone on the fence about the goat, just go for it! You won't regret it. Here's the measurements; Size 42 -Chest, Pit to Pit: 22.5"* -Back length: 23" -Storm flap length: 23" -Sleeves: 25" *chest measured with the jacket zipped up, laying flat with the pleats closed, from the edges of the leather (not from seam to seam) I'll get some pictures of me wearing it when I get a chance.

Kwad...
LOL...Nah, this was the JACKET thread!! So I didn't think showing more than that was "fair game"!! Hehe... I put the shoe photos on a different post and hopefully, before school starts back up and I have to work, I'll get the time to visit the forests near here and take some decent photos of the whole set!! Rather than those taken in my house..Which suck..LOL
Regards...And Happy New Year Sir!

What back length would you suggest for me ( I'm 6ft 3.5" tall )? My ROTLA has 27" back (without collarstand) and 25" front (with collarstand). Back could be shorter, I think. 26" would be ok?

Greetings "IndyLounge" members. After seeing "Kt. Templar's" jacket elsewhere, and after he compared the weight of his lambskin jacket with his soft seal cowhide jacket, I "pulled the trigger" on a Wested "Hero" in soft seal cowhide which I received this past Monday. If I didn't know better, I would have thought that the jacket was lambskin. The leather is lightweight, wrinkles nicely, and my particular jacket has some nice "character" to it. IMHO, the color is similar to a Todd's Costumes "standard" jacket. Yes, I know..post is useless without pictures. Hope to post some soon. I am forever in "KT's" "debt" for "dropping the knowledge" on this leather. Absolutely, love my new Wested "Hero" jacket. Recently, sold off almost all of my other "Raiders" jackets because of the "Hero".

Hi Nick ....... I've noticed that your Hero jacket does not have a leather facing on the inside right opening . My new G&B Expedition arrived a few days ago , and it also does not have the facing . Except for that one feature , the jacket more than meets my expectations and I'm really thrilled with it . Hope to post some pics soon . You have owned jackets from just about every company of worth out there including Nowak . Is this something that is synonymous with Indy jackets in general , or is it whatever movie the jacket came from , or is it the manufacturer that holds sway over something like that ? The jacket seems sort of incomplete without it , although there are a lot of people out there , I think , who would agree to disagree with me . On an expensive leather jacket , it almost looks like cutting corners . In your stable of jackets , is it some do and some don't ? What is the criteria ? Thank you Nick . Abyssinia .

Congrats on your G&B purchase! You're going to love it!
As for the leather facings- it is considered to be screen accurate to have no leather facings. Both the G&B and Nowak Raiders jackets were designed after the original- hence they have no leather facings. However, my TN CS jacket does have facings- and with them it does seem like a more durable jacket because of it. But really- that is what it is for- to give you that feel of top notch construction and durability. It's main purpose is so the zipper doesn't snag on the liner.
When it comes to a Raiders jacket- I prefer to not have leather facings. It gives the area along the zipper a more wavy look- which to me looks very Raiders when I zip the jacket half way up.

Or put slightly differently, the jackets for the first 3 films did not have facings. But the CS jacket did, because the non LC 'source' jacket had them too.
If you look closely at the original 3 films you will often see the cloth lining on the non stormflap side as it has a characteristic 'curl'.

Thank you Jnicktem and Kt.Templar . Good information if I ever decide to buy another jacket . In the meantime , trying my best to learn to love the one I've got . Hey Nick , if that Nowak CS was my size , I'd make you an offer you don't refuse . What size is that ugly thing anyway ? I'm serious .
PS ......... My futile attempt at humor .

Looks sharp! I had some sizing issues with my Wested. As much as I loved it, it was kind of constricting in the shoulders. That one was custom sized for me, but luckily when I got my U.S. wings Raiders jacket it was an off the rack size and it fit me perfectly! Strange in a way. I'd say having an Indy Jacket that's a few inches bigger goes a long way for your freedom of movement. Especially when you're trying to dodge a boulder or outrun Hovitos!
