or it could just not come again oh well, I don't get it, are Aussie Post offices closed Mondays or Jan 3rd after New Years? I ordered Dec 31 They ship out first Monday after weekend but they didn't ship mine out till Tuesday? No wonder it is taking so long, it shipped a day later than expected and I forgot to include BUSINESS Days as only countable days... so if it shipped 4th, that's 3rd here but very late so... Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat.. Mon Tues.... still 7 days! oh the torture... (at least they email back though lol)

Ah that's bad man If I go for the Fed IV, you've proved I'll need to go with the shipping method that has tracking ;D Oh, monies in the bank... it may just get spent on that Fed... ;D

Stargate.... If you're like me for waiting, then yeah, Express it.....It's easily worth the extra 30 dollars or so to make sure your hat comes sooner, especially if it means not taking a long time under other heavy boxes while in transit.... Since it's a first hat, I'd suggest a Regular, and the extra money saved going on the faster shipping... Although if you're not so worried about it, then a Deluxe and longer shipping would be okay eh? We all should KNOW what we're like while we wait....I'm bad at it...So I always choose EXPRESS.....But that's just me....

Mmm... just check pricing on a regular plus express or standard airmail, and only standard airmail brings it under £100 Damn shipping costs! May have to go with the Christy's after all!

Do you want me to pray for it, Ed? I'll definitely pray for it if you ask me to. It wouldn't do any harm, and I'm positive that it'll help. Steven

Well, having gotten a decent quote for my old phone, I've decided to go for a Christy's Adventurer in Sable I've had a good look around on the net, and after seeing through a lot of the brand fan-boy nonesense, the Christy's has actually come out fairly favourably! Given that it's a fur felt hat, and at a reasonable price, it's definitely going to be worth the money. And as one gentleman has put it - this is a tough "dress" fedora, not a tough fedora that's "dressy" To me, that's the ideal way round, as I've got a tough hat in my Barmah and want something dressy from a fedora. So anyway, getting it ordered as soon as my old phone gets sent off!

Ben, don't worry, there'll be plenty of pics ;D ;D I'm currently waiting on my boots, so when they come there'll be some new gear pics up Steven - I'll use it for everyday wear At the moment my Barmah is standing in until I got a fedora, at which point it'll become my "work" (read: Field) hat, and the fedora will be my "dress" (read: smart/casual) hat I don't expect a "dress" hat to withstand constant abuse, but I'd hope that it'd stand up to at least a light shower, and the odd bump/scrape that's likely to occur during everyday wear. I mean let's face it, there are few opportunities where I'd require a hat to withstand the rigours that Indy put his fedora through! But when it comes to withstanding strong wind/rain/rough treatment, the Barmah will bare the brunt, as that's meant to be a "work" hat, and as such will be my hat of choice when out on fieldwork

I know it's too late, but for next time, the Akubra works exceptionally as both... It's dressy enough to cover looking stunning with a suit and tie and a raincoat, but solid enough to get soaked and not need anything done to make it okay.. Very solid little number all in all.. I've heard that if the Christy's HAS a weak point, that it is it's lack of dependability in harsher weather... But since you won't need to use it for that I know it's less of a concern.... And thanks for the pics too! Always appreciated! (I should find a better way to share mine than just facebook.. I'll work on that for next time).. All the best..

Cheers for that Ben I've actually decided to put the Fed IV on my "To buy when..." list, so that it can be a treat when I can afford it. But for now, the Adventurer will do just nicely, as it won't be much more than this phone's worth, so it's like I'm hardly paying for it at all (unlike if I went for the Fed IV straight away) As for photo sharing - just get yourself a Photobucket account! It's free, easy to use, and most forums ask that members use them or a similar service for image hosting

Nice stargate! If you won't be using the Christies for rough and tough wear, it should be fine. Yep Photobucket is good. It's free and easy to use.

Wow....Waaaay too big.... How do I make it smaller? Or is that a Photobucket thing? Resize it there presumably? Any hints are deeply appreciated!

If you are using Photobucket you can use thier preset resizing on the large setting. That should work OK. You can either replace original or save a copy.
Cheers, John

Thanks John... I'll do that! Seems fairly easy, although I'm sure I'll find something else to ask people about sooner or later.. All the best.

Well, my phone got sent off today, so hopefully the funds should be transferred once they've tested it and seen it's fine Then it's just a matter of placing my order with Hornets Hats, and bingo-bango I'll have a fedora!!!
