Jedi... Sorry it ain't turned up yet mate...(I know it's more to pay, but the express is the only way to do it, sorry I didn't mention that before eh? My bad..).. And thanks for the comment dude! I'm not worried about you! Hehe... I'm glad to hear it suits me actually! Ta bruv... And Noah, yeah, nice to have the add mate! Thanks... Stargate, good luck sir.... If the Christy's IS as user customisable as stated above then you could maybe hope for them to change it to suit your face if you the time to visit them in person? I dunno... That's about the only plus side over the Fed IV I'd see... (If it's free eh?)... Good luck on the choice eh?

Hope your hat arrives ok Jedi It's a bugger when you're waiting for something to arrive that needs signing for, and there's nobody else available to take the delivery if you need to be somewhere?! With my bag strap that arrived today, thankfully it wasn't an issue - the posty just popped it through the letter box whilst we were out. But if it had been my jacket/trousers/shirt the other day, I'd have died cos they needed to be signed for! EDIT: fifthchamber - thanks for that, but I doubt we'd travel down to the other end of the country just for a hat ;D I know England's nowhere near as big as anywhere in the States, but it's still a long haul down to Hornet Hats' location! That's another reason the Akubra is still in the running - I don't mind that it'd have to be shipped (and 'unbashed' at that!)

Heheh...I know mate, I'm a Londoner....Just been living in Tokyo for the past seven years teaching and studying martial arts... ;-) I just thought you mentioned earlier that you'd head out to look for nice hats? And wondered if that meant you had a big trip in mind, or a more local one, since it's the latter, I'd certainly say that the Express shipping times would be more than comparable to regular Royal Mail... ;-) (Inside joke, since anyone who knows what "regular Royal Mail" is like would do all they can to avoid it...LOL).. All the best..

Ah right - sorry mate, just assumed from your little info section saying "Location: Tokyo, Japan" that you were japanese No, London's a bit far to travel for a day out from South Yorkshire ;D We're going to (hopefully) be bobbing through to York for the day soon, to see what a few hat shops there have to offer, as a barrister at my mum's works has said he got a nice fedora through there. And yeah, "Royal Fail" are best left well alone ;D That's another reason the Akubra is still in the running - I'd rather wait for international shipping than dare risk anything by either Royal Fail or Parcel Farce!

LOL....It hits home when you move to a country whose postal service still works (like Japan, or Australia by the looks of it), and you realise just how crap the PO actually was back home...Sad innit? And yeah, I'm living out here now, but I'm still able to remember how fun it was waiting for packages to arrive back in the day....I always send emails to my mum asking her to tell me when she ships stuff so I can estimate a few weeks delivery onto it...21st Century someone told me we'd have hoverboards...B@stards! ;-) Heheh...Nice too meet ya mate...York is a lovely place too...My mate runs a Dojo up in Mirfield now...I'd like to head up there if I ever make it back...So if you find any good hat shops do let me know eh?! All the best..

YEa Stargate the worst part is I don't know what company is delivering it??? I assume DHL??? but I have no clue... If it was UPS I would know to be here like 3-5pm... I don't know when it was shipped and there is a 5 day gap of when it might be here Wasted the last week of vacation and I start back up at school tomorrow... Tuesdays I go from 8am - 920pm !!! Really wish there was at least a notification of when to expect it... Def only doing Express from now on... this hat better fit or I will throw a fit!

Yeah, they are all nice people to chat too, and would have a record of when they shipped your goods, so for all that it matters they could tell you that at least Jedi?Drop them a line I would...
And Stargate, yeah....Mirfield...If you're ever interested in trying some classical Japanese Martial Arts dating from 1532 then I'll introduce you to Anna... :-) Let me know what happens! Regards.

Ok, I've been doing a bit of searching on the internet, and was wondering - has anyone had any dealings with "Jaxon Hats"? Cos I've found a few of their offerings on a couple of sites in the UK, but it seems they're a US company, so any reviews would be appreciated Their "Ford Fedora" is supposed to be their take on the Indy hat, although from the looks of their 'bash', I'd need to redo it for my taste (the Raider's bash) ;D At around £25 it seems the ideal price for a first fedora, and the stated water-repellency/crushable/foldable factors definitely make it sound appealing. Here's a link to one - www.hatsandcaps.co.uk/Jaxon-Hats-Ford-Fedora-P135004/ and Jaxon's own website - www.jaxonhats.com/jaxon_ford_fedora_crushable.htmlThoughts, opinions, reviews welcome as always

It was the Jaxon Crushable Wool Safari II. THAT was supposed to be their take on the Indy Hat. Sadly, it's been discontinued. Pity. I wanted one SO BADLY. Steven

I had a Jaxon Iconoclast and it was decent but didn't do to good in the rain after soaking it to the core for like 5 rain storms (I was a bit of a newbie at the time, WHAT WAS I THINKING?! ) I've seen hats like the ford crushable one, there durable but you can't rebash it really. It's not really screen accurate but if you like it, it'll be a good hat. (I haven't seen this exact hat but similar crushable fedoras) I don't care for the crushable fedoras but they will last. I used to have one though it was more of a outdoors/outback hat but pretty much the same thing. It can be a good fedora but not a SA Indy one, though I'm sure if you have your Indy gear on and the hat somebody will know your dressed like Indiana Jones. When you go on your hat expedition try to see if you can find a crushable fedora or a outdoor/outback style hat like this, and see if you like the hat. If you do then you will probably like the Jaxon ford ~Buck

Star... I think that that hat, while a nice looking one for the price, probably wouldn't satisfy the "Indy" in you mate....The design and colouring are off, so while it would work if you were looking for a more regular Fedora, I'd say wait (or spend more for an Akubra or Christy's) if you were after something that looked right with your Indy gear... I know it seems easy to say, but all Fedora's aren't equal, and some are most definately better than others... As a general guide, I'd suggest choosing rabbit or beaver fur (depending on how much cash you have free) over wool felt, and a straight centre crease bash over the "teardrop" shape in the link above... I'd also aim for dark brown felt, with a darker brown hatband (not lighter as in the above), black would work as a fallback... It really depends on what you're after though? If you're looking for something very Indy-like, then no, leave it and use the cash to buy the more expensive option.. But if you'd be okay with just a decent shaped hat for wearing out then why not? It's a good cheap option! FWIW...

and remember, when ordering from Hatsdirect make sure to use express shipping lol.... this is torture! I finally emailed them asking if they had a rough estimate on when it should be here and if I need to sign for it because I cannot wait at home another entire week for something that has such a broad time as 5-10 days.... especially when it was not 5-10 days after I ordered but 5-10 days after 3-4 days after I ordered, so it has now been 7 days since I got an email saying it would be shipped soon.. which is right in the middle.. I really hope tomorrow but tomorrow is my busy day with classes... 8-915am 20 min east of me. 1-350pm 20 min south of me and 6-920pm back at the same place as my 8am lol... tomorrow will suck!

Steven - check your PM inbox Buck - cheers for the info! I don't expect it to hold up to heavy storms, just a normal light shower As 'waterproof' as my Barmah is, once it gets completely soaked it does let a little water through the seam! Fifthchamber - I know what you mean I really don't want to scrimp on this, but I also don't want to chuck cash at it that could be put to more practical uses. Hence the 'sub-£100 shipped' budget, as spending over that would be a real indulgence given the economic climate ;D

I'm not complaining about them, not their fault, it's mine for not doing express..... I'm just very worried because in the past I have had packages with terrible drivers (UPS had 1 one day), and the guy drove past my house 3 times and then put it in as address does not exist... The only reason I knew it was because I had tracking info. I was waiting on my X-Box and wanted it before I left town so I had to make an appointment to meet the driver elsewhere and pick it up... I also had Young Indy Chronicles DVD get confirmed as arriving at my house but it never did... After a few days of tracking I was able to realize it was at the post office and they had messed up... SO I am worried something like that might have happened and I have no way of knowing and then it gets shipped back to Australia and then they have to trace it and then by the time I get it it might be a month from time of order and at that rate I might as well have saved up and got a Penman and waited 4 months extra haha...
So crossing my fingers that it comes tomorrow and none of my fears come true.

jedimastered, I hope you get your hat soon. Waiting for things to arrive is excuciating! There have been times where I waited weeks longer than I was supposed to. I'd be bummed out everyday it didn't arrive. I only use Priority Mail now because it is faster.
Don't worry you'll get it!

ha.. Stargate.. I was listening to this song as I read your email and I must say it sums up this waiting game perfectly... www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohWkf3dIAmE&feature=fvw I was listening to the Club mix but this is still good "Lost and alone, but I still keep proceeding on with no sense of time I don't even know where I'm going.. I begin to get breathless and my heart it keeps beating faster I know I just can't take this how much longer now I'm getting ready, I'm getting ready to explode that's why I got the fire light up the fuse I'm letting go I'm getting ready, I'm getting ready to explode don't hold me down now I'm just about to overload.. Time is running out I feel I'm walking upon my wire heading till the end and I'm starting lo lose my mind I'm getting ready, I'm getting ready to explode that's why I got the fire light up the fuse I'm letting go I'm getting ready, I'm getting ready to explode don't hold me down now I'm just about to overload..
