11/13? Sounds like these shirts are being made in the same factory as Todd's new Indy jacket! ;D
Only kidding! I'm looking forward to seeing how it is when you get it too.

Well, it's the 8th today. That's a pretty decent timeframe on a standard delivery.

Well, I ordered it on 11/6 and they said with regular shipping it would take 5 to 10 days so I'm pretty happy with only having to wait until Monday. It would have been even better if the store here in town was open and they had the shirt available there. At least I could have checked out the colors in person, but.......they aren't so I guess I'm going to have to wait and hope I like the color and the shirts fit.

Well, UPS just dropped off the shirt. The shirt is the exact same color as the one online and it is a slim fit. No extra material on this thing at all. I won't be drying it when I wash it that's for sure. I'll have to let it air dry and then iron it. I think the color is a little to dark but I like it anyway. I'm sure it will fade eventually. Hopefully the new Forever 21 store opening up here in town will have them in there as well. That way all I have to do is go over and buy another one and I won't have to wait for it in the mail. I'm going to go gather up my gear and take some shots of me wearing it. The pics should be up later on tonight. As far as I'm concerned this would make a fine Indy shirt in either color. I think I like it even more than the Old Navy one.

Hey PH, Glad to hear that the cut was what you were expecting... sorry to hear that the color was a touch too dark for you. I'm looking forward to those pics! Ken

Ok,
Here's the shirt. Keep in mind these were taken at night and indoors. I'm not sure yet what the shirt color will look like in direct sunlight.

I'd be curious to see the shirt in direct sunlight. It does look a tad too dark in those pics though.

It is darker than what I'm guessing the NH shirt looks like but after seeing this color in person I would have to say that the cream (white) would be the more accurate color to pick out of the two choices on the website. Other than the color issue this shirt has everything else going for it and it's even more comfortable than the Old Navy shirt! It seems to be slightly thicker than the Old Navy shirt but it's still light weight. It also feels like it's put together better than the other shirt as well. I've never owned a "real" Indy shirt but I'm guessing this shirt would come closer to that in quality than the Old Navy would. I won't know what the color will look like in direct sunlight until we get a sunny day here and that doesn't look like it's going to be anytime soon. I like the shirt and the color the way it is so I'm not going to try messing with it. I'm going to leave this one as is. I will say that once the store opens up here in town that I might go in there to see if they have some and if they do I might buy the cream one. That way I have one of each. I really wish this shirt would have been around a year ago because it would have saved me a lot of trouble buying the other ones. After wearing this shirt I really have no use for the others.....except for maybe the Old Navy.

I think it looks really good! Good to hear how much you ended up liking this one, PH. When you say thicker, does it seem like it's the same material as the Old Navy or is it more of a Winter shirt? It looks like it'd be really comfy - lightweight, for summertime but you've said it's thicker. Does it feel like knit cotton, or same "texture" as the Old Navy? It does look closest to an Indy shirt "off-the-rack" that I've seen so far - including the slimmer fit, smaller pockets, epaulette placement. It's a great "Merger". As for that color, although it may be a bit dark, it looks good with the gear. And keep in mind, you've taken pictures with a white wall behind it so it's going to contrast stronger. But....away from a white background it's not as drastic. Either way, I like how that Khaki works. Not too yellow - which a lot of Khakis are. Fast PS to show contrast here. What did you get size-wise? Ordered your regular size?

Well, I'm sorry to hear that it is indeed a bit too dark. But, it does look like a great NH-like fit! Seeing Tone's job of putting you against a different background certainly made it look much closer. Either way... it will lighten up over time with washing, but I'm quiet positive that you could dye the cream colored one to be the correct shade. I'm also glad that you like it, which is... of course, the main point! Thanks for posting the photos, and once the sun comes out, I would love to see it outdoors as well. Ken

It says it's 100% cotton just like the Old Navy but there has to be more to it than that. It's not "winter" thick that's for sure but it's not as thin as the Old Navy. I just wore it outside to take the trash out and it's 41 degrees here and a bit windy. I'm not wearing a t-shirt under it either. So when I stepped out the breeze didn't seem to go through the shirt like it would have had I been wearing the Old Navy shirt. It seemed to keep me a little bit warmer. I'd be willing to bet this shirt would work well in all seasons. With a t-shirt underneath and a good jacket this shirt would do just fine in the winter and would be cool enough for the summer as well. In my mind this is the way I always imagined how the real Indy shirt must have felt when I saw the films or looked at pics. This shirt also feels a bit softer than the Old Navy shirt too. IF I had to do it all over again this shirt would be the only close-enough I would every buy. I don't think anyone is ever going to find an "off the rack" shirt closer than this. The design, the fit , the way it feels is just about perfect. If I didn't know any better I would say someone modeled this after the Indy shirt or at least got the inspiration from seeing it somewhere. It's just a fluke that I happened to find it. Off the rack I wear a Large size so that's what this shirt is. With the slim fit I think I could have gotten away with an Extra-Large, but......I think I would have ran into the bulging side problem. The Large fits fine but I usually don't wear slim fit clothes so it took a few minutes to get used to the feel. After that I didn't notice it. It could be possible that in the sun with lights shining on the shirt it could appear near white but I doubt it would look like the NH even under those circumstances. I really want to just ditch my other shirts and go buy some more of these in this color and cream. ;D

The material of the Old Navy shirt is very, very close in feel to the Noel Howard. The NH is a touch softer and perhaps even lighter though, but definitely not flimsy. I think the cut of this shirt is very much like the NH, even if the fabric isn't as close. The cut makes a huge difference too, and is also why people have to adjust to wearing something more snug than usual.
I'm with you PH, and don't usually wear my clothes as snug as this sort of cut. But, it does work well for Indy gear.

Ken Well, I hope the sun comes out again soon....not just for the shirt either. ;D Fall and winter months here in Indiana are usually quite bleak as far as weather goes. The majority of the time it's just gray outside. I will say this about the Khaki color on this shirt. It's the best I've seen so far and I'm not a big fan of Khaki colored shirts. They usually end up looking either to yellow or even pink. This one has some gray undertones that I'm guessing with the brown will help the overall color once it starts to fade. Down the road it very well might end up close to the NH after all. It may just take some time. I had limited success with the dye on my other white pilot shirt I bought. It worked fine but after a while I've noticed the color has faded back to white with a blueish hue to it. I think since I plan on buying more than one of this shirt and I get the cream color I'm going to leave it as is. I don't want to have to dye each shirt I buy and try to match it to the last one. Technically the reason my white shirts always look so bright is because I'm not roughed up. I think the white color would look a lot better with dirt and sweat mixed in there as well. I think this shirt would be the one shirt you could trust wouldn't fall apart if you put it through it's paces.

It also very well may be that the new shirt and the Old Navy shirt weigh exactly the same and the reason I feel like it's a little bit sturdier is because it's cut closer to me in the fit. I think if I'm going to continue to wear the "slim fit" I'm going to have to lay off the snacks. ;D I would tell you guys to order one to see for yourselves but you and a few others already own the real deal so it would be pointless. ;D The only thing I can do is recommend this shirt to the others out there that are looking for a good shirt at a good price. This is it!

If cash were a regular thing around here at the moment, I would have ordered one... just for the heck of it. What I meant about the fabric is, the Old Navy shirt and the NH are almost exactly the same fabric. They have the same feel, sheen and very similar weight as well. The color and cut are the major differences between the two. This new shirt doesn't look like the same type of cotton material at all. It looks to be more of a spun type of thing... sorry, I'm not much of a seamstress . But, it looks to have more texture to it, where the Old Navy and NH are very, very smooth. How does that compare for you, since you have the Old Navy as well? Regardless, if the cut and style are so close... as they are, the color is the only real issue. Side by side, you could tell the difference between a NH and this one, but how often will that ever happen... and who cares anyway? Looks like a great find to me, Ken

Looks like a great find to me, Ken I kept trying to come up with the right word to describe the Old Navy shirt and this new one and you hit it on the head. It's the sheen. You are correct. This shirt doesn't seem to have that smooth of a sheen to it as the Old Navy does. You may be right about it being spun. I'm not sure about that stuff either. ;D I ironed it right before I took the shots because it was all wrinkled from shipping and I noticed it didn't take long for it to kind of wrinkle back up and look like I'd been sleeping in it. The Old Navy shirt doesn't really do that to much. This one I'm guessing will probably be a little bit easier to get the "roughed up" look than the other ones I own. I still need to try the shirt on with my IZOD pants too. They are a bit darker than the Oak Creeks so that may give a little bit better of a contrast between the two colors. I agree with you. Who cares if it's not the exact color. It makes a fine alternative Indy color. I'm going to use it in my PS pics and my regular gear pics as well.

I just found out the Forever 21 store here in my town will be opening Dec 15th. I'm going to probably go and but the cream shirt there if they have them. If they don't I'll order it online.
Looks like the sun is going to be out most of the week. If I get a chance I'll snap some pics of the shirt I bought outside and post them.

Must not be the same one or an offshoot of this store. Like "Lady Footlocker" or something.

Just another small update. The Forever 21 store opened here in town and I went in tonight to see if I could find the shirt in the store and the darn place is 95% women's clothes. They have a small area dedicated to men's clothes and I didn't see the shirt in either color. So it looks like if I want a white one I'll have to order it online as well.........What a pain in the rump!

I didn't want to start a new thread about this but I wanted to let you guys know I ordered the "cream" color in this exact same shirt. It should be here in about a week.
I've been wearing the khaki one off and on quite a bit with my regular clothes but I haven't with my gear that much. It has lightened up some since I bought it but not much. Even in direct sunlight the Khaki is still to dark.
This new shirt might end up being either bright white or an off white. So far though this particular shirt pattern is the only one I've seen "close-enough" to Indy's and it's available off the rack.

Pittffall,
You said you wear a Large in your post. I'm thinking of getting one of these in cream color. What is your chest size? I'm about a 42, 16.5 neck and 32 sleeve, but usually wear a men's medium shirt. I may just get one of each. Large for layering underneath and Medium for summer.

Boy, that's a good question. I believe I'm close to you.....maybe a 41. The last time I measured myself was back when I ordered my Wested. I usually just get off the rack large and they seem to fit just fine. Now this shirt is a "slim fit" so even though it's a large it feels a bit smaller than my other large shirts. In fact I'm afraid if it ever shrunk I wouldn't be able to wear it. I thought about ordering an extra large back when I first bought the khaki color but I ended up going with the large because I didn't want the shirt "ballooning out" like all of my others seem to do in the waist. I do eat my fair share of junk food but these other shirts make me look like I've got a beer gut because of the extra material. ;D Right now though it doesn't even look like they're offering an small or extra large size in this shirt. I'm wondering if they're going to discontinue it. I hope not. The crappy part is that the Forever 21 store here in my town mostly carries womans clothes and they have a small area dedicated to men's clothes and they don't carry this particular shirt in the store! Keep an eye on the site because this may end up going onsale.
