Most of you know that this has been brewing for a while. As ever Peter has strived to give people what they want and what they think they want at a reasonable price. Here is his latest offering in progress. I'll let him tell you the details himself.

You, sir, are a mover and a shaker! Triglides or the ToD buckles and corrected flaps and bob's your uncle, I think.

It definitely has the texture seen in many of the Raiders screen shots. Very interesting.

The person with the original pattern changed that pattern or made new patterns based on other people's jackets? Aren't the original patttern jackets good or so Todds are really better already?
This is a copy of the jackets people say tear easily for more money than stronger leather Wested jackets?

Well, I think there is some consensus that Mr. Botwright did not actually keep the old patterns from the time Wested Leather was Leather Concessionaires. So, although they did make some jackets for Raiders years ago, recalling the exact pattern was still guess work. Changes were made based on a rare original jacket examined by Tony Nowak around the time of the latest Indiana Jones movie. Mr. Nowak was given access to a Raiders jacket since he was chosen as the craftsman for the Crystal Skull jacket. An unidentified person wanted the original Raiders reproduced for their own use and let him also make copies for "all them crazy Indy fans" or something to that effect.

So, I just got word that a shrunken lamb version of this new jacket pattern will set you back about £275 or $438 USD. Comparatively speaking, it sounds reasonably priced to me.

Looks good and the price sounds good too! So good to see Wested offer a less boring looking hide. Hard to see clearly in these pics, but I hope the back length has been shortened compared to the regular pattern - And more importantly let's just hope that Wested can make the jackets to fit their customers without the need for returns.

Pagey, what did you do with the jacket you posted about? Did you sell or repair it? Since you didnt think that kind of leather was durable would you get one of these because its cheaper?

Peter is experimenting with a couple of leathers right now, I suspect that is partly why it's taking some time.
The one with the striations is a historical hide from an old tannery that he's getting made it's a soft but beautiful lamb.
The other is a washed shrunk lamb, this is the leather you see the prototype made in, it's a thicker, slightly stretchy lamb, feels pretty tough, it has lot's of nice grain and striations on some of the skins.

How about that zipper... does it go all the way to the bottom? And yolk to arm seam placement?

ah the old zipper discussion...brass or nickel

I'm almost positive Peter would make it nickel or aluminum if it is supposed to be accurate. I'm just wondering if it goes all the way to the bottom of the jacket. If it doesn't, I can't say I'm interested. If the zipper isn't nickel I'm not interested either. I sure would like to see some more detailed pictures.

I've not looked at the bottom of the zipper that closely. Your comment made me think.... does the Nowak Indy 1 actually have a silver zipper? I know he uses nickel strap hardware.

Interesting... its nice to see Wested offer some new leather options... especially the one with the growth marks/striations... as I haven't seen any vendor (at least for Indiana Jones jackets in recent years) offer that look...
As for the washed shrunken lamb... I wonder if he would be willing to offer any of his other styles in that hide?

Wested already knows what the original zipper color was and how long it should go. Novak made the Crystal Skull.

Glad it got fixed! Do you like the leather any better now it's back or are you still worried about tears?
Also, how much did the repair set you back and was it sewn with a patch or a new piece of matching leather put on there? Did you pay for postage?
Would you buy another Nowak? (I've been writing NoVak because I've seen that on the Crystal Skull DVD and the makin of book.)

The repair work was free although I did pay postage. But, in addition, Tony made me another jacket in a different leather - free of charge. I don't wear the first jacket anymore, it's a little too big on me. The second jacket fits better so I wear that. Would I order from Tony again? Yes.

I knew he was a nice guy... but I just remember when, nearly a year ago, I gave him specs and asked him to build me a SA Raiders jacket. He quoted me $2,500.00

Well, I for one like what I see. I also like the idea behind it. But as much as I like this new Wested, there are still a few things I'd like to see tweaked before it gets finalized. (Namely that yoke / arm seam placement as Kap pointed out. Plus the pocket flaps look a little long, but it could just be the close-up angle of the pic distoring things, I'm not really sure.) One thing I will say is I absolutely love the look of this lambskin. Hands down one of the coolest looking hides I've ever seen on a stock Raiders jacket! I'm definitely anticipating the end result of this new venture.

I talked to Tony Nowak and asked him if i sent him a jacket and a list of specs with pictures, how much would it cost to get all of the details right. He quoted me $2,500. At the time, I had the jacket bug so bad I actually considered it. But G-Mann kicked me in the privates and I came to my senses.
