Dunst isn't my first choice either but she's done a good job with the role and she is a good actress. The problem is Mj in the books is a super model and Raimi could have hired any hot girl in Hollywood if that's all he wanted. Most of them though can't act their way out of a paper bag.
Oddly enough I thought her hair color in the first one was more accurate than it was in the second film and in the first film she wore a wig!
Tobey to me looks like the Peter Parker of the Lee / Ditko years of the books and that's mostly the era Raimi is getting his insperation from. Raimi wasn't even keen on using Venom and he wanted to stick with the classic villians but because Venom is still so popular with the fans he decided to use him.

I had no idea she wore a wig in the first movie.... I guess that shows how observant I am. I do remember her being a real hottie in the comic book, and while Kirsten is attractive, you're right... she doesn't fit the comic book desciption. I do agree that she has done a nice job in that role, and she is a really good actress. Ken

Dunst looked the best in Spidey 1, with the wig and makeup. She's let her self go since, sadly and was only just 'cute' to begin with anyway IMO. Blues is right; the MJ from the comics was 4 alarm drop-dead gorgeous!. There are alot of actresses I would have rather seen as the redhead.
There are some who think they might reverse the comic canon and kill off MJ and have PP get with Gwen Stacy. We shall see.
Harry, you are correct about Tobey being very good as a Ditko Peter/Spidey. Some of it is the writing. They need to give him more of the one-liners and razor-sharp wit of comic Spidey.

I just notice that I had this pic up on the 'ol ice box for what looks like at least four years. When I find the others I 'll post them if anyone wants to see them. Good thing is that my face is covered hahah. This is a pic of me with a friends three year old ( at his b-day party). It was a favor I did his dad. It was a hoot to put this on and play spidy for the kids one last time. The funny thing is the kids thought they were on to me when I showed up back as myself. They said to me that i was spidy because the two of us were not together. I got the last laugh because a month latter i took a sot with universals spiderman and showed all the kids the photo and they lost there little minds. lots of fun.

Of course they could have Peter become friendly with Gwen after the suit starts to change his personality and then she gets killed because of his actions as "Spider-Venom" and then feels guilty for not being able to save her to once he goes back to normal and then at the end he and Mj get married. I agree with you on the "whitty banter" part. That is one of Spidey's signature things and they keep missing the mark. The character has to much angst and the need to balance that out with the "Spidey" part being fun and having him mouth off to everyone. There were a few lines in one that were good but I can't think of any in two! I'm sure this series will continue as long as it's making cash and I can see them recasting the characters like the Batman or Bond films.

That looks like the old original Spider-Man suit from the books. I've always preferred the smaller eyes on the mask over the big ones that they do now.

Oak, you make a fantastic Spiderman! You certainly have the build and physique for it. Can I play Mary Jane?

There Tobey looks normal but that picture I posted above looks to me like the "Venom Suit" is already starting to effect his health and personality. His hair's a mess and he looks sick. Yep! Quite the case of Symbiosis.

Yeah, that's fan-made but I'm impressed with how they used the footage from the last 2 films and other stuff.
Topher's got blonde hair in the third one so they must have used footage of him from that other film he was in.

topher is gonna be brok lesner (spelling), but they are making him like the ultimate spiderman version whcih isnt as buff, at least from what i remember. This brok is more mental and such. Hes going to be venom. Pretty sure venom will show up, i think i read so. So that means there will be 3 badguys. Sandman, Venom, and Green goblin again. Looks pretty sweet.

Actually there are going to be 4 villains according to a recent article where someone talked to Sam about the film.
I guess Thomas Hayden Church who is playing the Sandman was giving an interview on some AM talk show and he basically confirmed that Venom will look pretty close to the comic book version.
On a side note Marvel just recently did the dumbest thing in the world and had Peter announce to the world at a live press conference that he is Spider-Man!!
This is all part of this Civil War storyline running through all of the books. Another "Big Event" type of deal that allows them to muck up things for awhile.

I read that story yesterday, about Spiderman revealing his identity to the world and why. What caught my eye was the headline they used for it.... something along the lines of Spiderman "outs" himself to the world. I though.... OMG, what are they doing now??? I'm just glad it was something different! Ken

Yeah, I didn't see the paper but I did read about it online and most of the fans are not happy one bit. As far as the books go I've not been able to pickup any of them because I haven't had the money so I'm waaaay behind.
I haven't been to happy with the way they've treated the character over the last few years now anyway. The guy in charge is only looking to sell books so instead of doing what's best for the character they go for the thing that's going to catch the most attention. It's one "Event" after another......I'm guessing that was the motive behind the papers headline too. They could have phrased that different if they wanted to but they wanted to get the most attention so they make it sound like he's coming out and saying he's gay.......which will probably be next!
I've basically followed the Ultimate Spider-Man books because he's closer now to the way the original used to be.
I don't know if any of you have really followed the books that much, especially within the last year or two. They've basically come out and changed his origin and connected it to magic, they turned around and said Gwen Stacy slept with Norman Osborn (The Green Goblin) before she died and had two genetically mutant kids that tried to kill Spidey and then they had some new bad guy beat Spidey to death and rip out his eye! On top of that because of his "new" origin he was able to come back to life because he crawled out of his skin....which was an "outer shell" and basically be reborn with a new body and amped up powers!!!
Now does any of that sound like fun or the Spidey you grew up with?
At least the movies keep the spirit of the original Lee/Ditko books alive. The current books are being handled by morons. I think a monkey could write a better story.
Oh, and if you think all of this is bad now I'm hearing rumors of him either getting a divorce from MJ or her being killed off. This may or may not tie into what happens in the 3rd movie too. Dunst doesn't want to continue past the 3rd film and I've heard they have plans for 6 or more movies so I could see them killing Mj and Peter getting with Gwen.......a reverse of what happened in the original stories.

Kirsten Dunst is so flat, I honestly wouldn't care too much if she did die off. It'd be interesting if Harry did that as the new Goblin, him being sore at Peter about her in the first place.

Well, one of the many rumors floating around says that Harry does use the Goblin gear but I'm not sure what he calls himself......either the "Green Goblin" or the "Hobgoblin". Anyway, he ends up using it to help Peter at the end fight off both the Sandman and Venom.
On a side note their saying now that a real teaser for Spidey 3 might be attached to Superman Returns. I'm not sure how long it is or what it shows. Some seem to think it will be something shot entirely for the teaser and not a part of them film like with the original movie's teaser that involved the World Trade Center buildings that was quickly pulled after 911.

TONS OF NEW PICS ADDED TO ALBUM (at top of thread) and rearranged to be newest first. Lots more to come. now... WHHHHHAAATTTT? Spidey gives up his secret ID? I'd heard about the Norman and Gwen thing and some other BS, but geeez. I consider pretty much everything after the marriage with all the clones and ressurections to be non-canon, some kind of alternate-reality crap. (IMO) As far as the movie, I hope Harry is the GREEN Goblin and that he messes with Spidey, making him think its Daddy come back from the dead and then kills MJ. But Harry will probably just be "The Goblin" and realize his mistakes, die saving Peter's life then everyone will dance in a circle with care bears.

I can see that outcome happening. He'll be evil at first.....maybe even cause the origin of either Venom or The Sandman and then have an attack of guilt over what he's been doing and save Peter at the end and then die.
I'm leaning more towards Harry creating Venom as a way to cause Peter trouble and then the thing gets out of control and either ends up with Brock or Harry hires Brock to use it to destroy Peter. My gut just tells me it's a bio-suit or weapon that Oscorp comes up with.
If you look at all 3 Superman films and then watch the two Spidey films they kind of shadow each other. I'm guessing the third films main theme will be Peter's inner struggle with his darker side which Venom will represent. Just like Supes going evil and the fighting himself in 3.
As far as the comic book is concerned he's been totally screwed up and I don't see how their going to fix this mess without doing a total reboot of the entire Marvel Universe.
The big reveal isn't the end either........I'm waiting for Mj and Aunt May to pay for this in some way. Either one of them will die or both.
What I would like to know is.....At this point what reason does Peter have to put on the mask? Everyone knows he's Spidey. The whole point of the costume was to hide his I.D!!
This whole thing is a perfect example of people creatively being backed into a corner and not being talented enough to work themselves out of it
