Ok, not coming to any conclusions here just showing a bunch of pics. I just got a nice cowhide jacket from Bullit, it measures about 22.5 pit to pit so I suppose it's a 42. It fit's me OK actually, fine in the shoulders and has a bit of room in the body. (It's supposed to be a 38, I suppose at a squeeze you could call it a 40!) The collar is a bit big and doesn't fold as well but I will try and train it Compared to my usual 38 lamb. Which is 21 pit to pit. However the thickness of the leather definately makes a BIG difference. Lamb Cow Ok, here's where it gets interesting. When you star putting other sizes pockets on. Small Pockets. h7" x w6." Lamb Cow And h7" x w6.5". Lamb Cow So anyone have a pocket preference! Lamb Cow Note the pocket flaps look quite scalloped even though they are only slightly. And boy that collar needs training!

I should have known I'd find this thread here, too! Well, to reiterate what I said in your thread at COW, I think the Lamb jacket pockets look perfect, I'm talkin' dead-on Raiders. The Cow pockets look HUGE ...but are doubtlessly more functional. If I had to choose, I'd go for the proportions that would get me closest to the look of the lamb jacket, but I'm a size 44, so the pockets would have to be bigger, but I'd want them to appear the same size as yours on the smaller size jacket, you know "to scale" or whatever with the 44 size jacket... Is it possible Peter is making the pockets too big for the larger sizes? -GCR

It's quite a surprise to me that 1 1/4" inch in the height of the pocket makes such a lot of difference.
On people who have ordered very short jackets, this will be even more exaggerated.
It's interesting to me too that when wearing the flaps on the cow look much more scalloped but when laying flat don't. Strange optical illusion, eh?
I do think the pockets are often too tall, but the width is probably ok. Hopefully after all the recent analysis and the little comparison I did with him he'll look at reducing the height of the pockets just about an inch on all sizes.
(GCR I think the pocket on my 38 lamb was a special request).

Special request, eh? Then KT, man you NAILED it!!! Those are some of the best looking "Raiders" pockets I've seen, period. I'm hoping that the newest ROTLA jacket Peter is working on will have the same sort of proportions & placement for the pockets, as that is exactly the kind of look I'd like for my next jacket, pocket-wise. Are the pockets on the Cow a special request as well? They really look huge! My jacket is a 44 and my pockets don't look that big. And yeah, it is funny about the pocket flaps...I've noticed the same thing on my own jacket. A slight angle can really make the flaps look scalloped, even though they aren't really scalloped that much. The flaps on my lambskin jacket are sorta wrinkled as well, which gives the scalloping more definition, even when viewed head-on. Very weird... Anyways, thanks for the pics & comparison! -GCR

I saw this thread and just out of curiosity I went and looked at my pockets because I've never really paid much attention to their size. I'm not totally sure but I think the pockets on my Wested goat are the same size as the ones on that cowhide. Not that it's a big deal. I personally want bigger pockets on mine because I carry my gloves and stuff in them. Just thought I'd let you guys know this isn't just something with the cowhide jackets.

KT, both jackets look a little long in the torso on you, but the sleeves look good. How do you feel about the body length? Perhaps it's just the angle of the camera.
From most screen shots I've seen, it looks like the raiders pocket came above Ford's elbow, which would mean that the larger pockets are probably better for you. What do you think?

Length is ok, I'm not for exact screen accuracy, if so might make the jacket 1" shorter. I'm very short so anything that doesn't swamp me I'm happy with! I like the smaller pocket but actually even the larger ones on the cowhide jacket don't look HUGE in real life. For this size jacket it's probably better not to go over 7.5" high in reality and about 6-6.5 width. All our measurements are an impression, sometimes the Raiders pockets look small sometimes quite big. Certainly the Randall jacket has very small pockets and i dont think that is the look I want. Probably more a Raven bar type look.

I like them the length you've got there, myself. When they're too short they look like a biker jacket.
