Next Jacket = Todd's... no question..I`'ve had dealings with todd in the past, and since he is literally a one man operation things won`t get " lost in Translation" as they sometimes do at wested...

Huh? I know the Magnoli Jacket is going for $365, but the Wested is only $250 bucks last time I checked...is Todd's jacket gonna be even cheaper than that? (Please say yes, please say yes... ;D) I was under the impression that it was going for a special preorder price of $299 or something...still a deal, but not as cheap as a Wested. And I don't want anyone thinking I'm trying to downplay some of the great things about Todd's jacket either...it sure as heck looks great to me, and (if I ever stop buying hats) I plan to pick one of these up as soon as I can. I just want to be sure about the price issue, that's all.

It looks like the currency conversion is working in our favor once again. A month ago, people were complaining that the Wested was $315 after shipping. Right now, it sits at $285 with shipping to the U.S., so it seems the pricing balance has shifted once again. It wouldn't change my purchase decision one bit, but it's nice to know there is an even cheaper alternative than $300 once again. Thanks for the update!

Ah, yes...shipping...I always forget about the shipping...when comparing shipping costs, Todd should have the edge for all US customers at least. And, in truth, such a small difference in price between the Wested and Todd's (whether you count shipping or not) wouldn't sway my decision, either...because I want BOTH ;D

But, since I already have one Wested, I think I'll go with Todd for the next jacket, then go for either a Wested Authentic Lamb with all the Raiders specs (hopefully) or an LC in Pre-distressed hide.

But once again, it doesn't matter what the price is if I keep spending all my money on HATS! ;D

Hey GCR,

I'm also after Todd's jacket, I did email him and he said that I could pre order a jacket and that it would be around May when they are ready..But alas, Ill have to wait a while since I just ordered another wested. As far as Magnoli's jacket, I'm sure ill be getting one of those as well, you can never have to many backups...But I'm confused about Todd's jacket because it says on the site, NOT YET AVAILABLE. So how can you pre order.. My first guess would be calling and ordering over the phone...

Magnoli having a replica Wested built for more money is fine. It's his shop. Until I see some more reviews of his clothing line - backed by actual pics to prove the same, I really don't have a need to buy the gear from him. It's too similar to what's already out there and it does seem the most expensive route to go. (Gear-wise.)

Todd's jacket is coming along nicely, and hopefully, it won't get over-criticized and spec'd to the point that it ends up looking just like another Wested. I like where Todd is going with the design. I just hope it doesn't become "everyone's" jacket and end up fitting to accomodate the masses instead of what it's supposed to look like. I'm already seeing early signs of people wanting to spec what looks great on them and not necessarily what looks great as the Raiders jacket. Pocket dimensions are one thing; as long as the "my hands are too big for pockets like those" folks don't sway the design past the point of hope, it's still looking to be a great contender so far.

I'm with you on that, Tone. Todd taking input from some folks, say, Agent5 for example, who provide details and screencaps to help better the jacket from a Raiders-accurate (I won't say screen-accurate since there were a few jackets used and some differed from others and blah, blah, blah) point of view is great. But when folks chime in with info and opinions based on what works best for them, it can muddy up the waters too much. If it's on Indy's jacket, on the screen, in Raiders, I want it on my jacket. If it won't work as well as something else, so what? If something else is more practical, or more easy to source, so what? I'm not after the most practical, or user-friendly jacket out there, I'm after the jacket from Raiders of the Lost Ark!

Profwex, I'm not sure how you preorder a jacket from Todd. My guess would be email or phone call (Todd's on the West Coast so plan your call accordingly, depending on where you live). Out of curiousity, what kind of Wested will you be getting?

Sounds pretty sweet. I was thinking about an "80's fit" for my next Wested, but I think I need to be in "80's" shape first. ;D

And also be sure and start up a new thread if and when you decide to order a Magnoli, I'm real interested to see what's what with his new offerring and how it compares to other jackets out there, especially the Wested (since it seems to draw so many comparisons to the Wested).

Anyway, let us know how you make out, and don't forget to post pics!
