It's a different animal in terms of screen accuracy and there are many details that would not make it my first choice but.... there is something inherently cool about it and the Spirit of Indy is all over this thing. It definitely needs some settling time when it arrives; the arms and shoulders are cut like modern day jackets and feel huge in comparison to the Wested when it's first tried on. It's cut to allow for too much room just below the shoulder blades and that may be due to the yoke being very low. It is the warmest, as has been stated by owners in the past, and on those colder nights, this would be the go-to in sacrifice of the screen accuracy. And it has been getting cold over here at night. I certainly don't recommend it for anyone looking for the features of the Indy jacket in terms of drape and measurements, but I can't deny that the finish on this, and the jacket overall fits the Spirit of Adventure beautifully! This is the Protocol (US WINGS care section label has black marker lining out the word US Wings wherever they appear) jacket that was given as a gift form the very generous, G-Mann. Thank you, sir. I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth at all here. Ever since Stefana put his on I liked the color of the antique lamb and it was quite a terrific surprise to receive this in the mail. So, my Christmas list has gone up to include a US Wings antiqued lambskin. It's a bit large on me still and settled a hair since being worn. I think it'll look better once it conforms with some more wear. Here are a few shots of it among the gear. Indy? No. Spirit of? Yes.

You're right, that jacket does have a spirit of adventure about it! You could try dampening the jacket and putting it in the dryer to shrink it some. Just monitor it carefully to avoid a liner meltdown or otherwise catestrophic event. G-Mann is one fine dude for sending you that jacket! Ken

That jacket looks very good on you, Tone. I like the russet undertones of the USWings lamb. Gmann is a very generous person, one in a million. 'Blues

It is a bit big, but looks a sturdy good quality jacket. Those should make great close enoughs. If you get to somewhere cold where you need some layering would be ideal.
What size is it marked and what size Wested do you take?

Tone,
That jacket will drape much better after the 240 Month break-in period. ;D
Cheers, G-MANN

Great looking jacket, Tone! I love the aged look to the leather...so many "close-enough" jackets I've owned in the past, before I got online and found Wested, had that same, well aged, vintage look to the leather. That's the one thing I missed when I got my Wested(s). I love that look, and now I can see how good it looks on an actual Indy jacket! My next jacket, whatever it is, is gonna have that same look...unless I decide to go for Todd's new jacket first! Anyways, awesome jacket! -GCR

Hey Stefana,
Is that a Miller you're wearing in that pic with your anitque lamb? The color of that hat looks AWESOME with that jacket! (No offense to Tone and his JPD) When I used to have a jacket with that same "aged" look, I also wore a Miller and it reminded me of that. Looks great!

Thanks guys. Yes, G-Mann is a heck of a guy. (Nice avatar, IndyBlues. LOL!) The only thing a bit big on it is the length of the sleeves. You can see it hits me on the shoulders at about the same spot Stefana's does his. It's a medium. What I would have ordered from them. So it's safe to say the US Wings cut runs wider in the upper back and a bit longer than the screen jacket. That's just the nature of the cut. It's thicker with that liner in there, too. RB, I guess I could dryer it but I'm not really looking to turn this thing into an "Indy" fitting jacket. Just wanted to show some more clear pics of the leather since the US Wings kind of comes up for question once in a while. It was very nice of G-Mann to send this to me and he did it just cause he's a nice guy (I didn't ask him for it) and I wanted to show some pics of it. It does feel sturdy and, out of the context of Indy, it's a beautiful leather. I wouldn't be screaming "Weeeee!" if I'd bought this in hopes of it looking like film gear. Now, Todd's jacket is a different story. There's just something cool about the color and the armor-like qualities to the look of the leather. You're right, GCR, a fed with a red hue like the Miller goes terrific with this. This jacket does make me think one of the US Wings A-2s would look awesome! (And they specify it's a closer, military fit on those.)

It does have a "bulky" look to it at first but once you get get used to that it makes for a very cool looking Indy jacket. I guess because of the bulk I automatically envison that jacket being super warm to wear during the summer with your gear. I think you got yourself a great looking jacket and to top it off it was for free.

You don't have to leave it in the dryer long enough to make it Indy fitting. Just wet the areas you want to shrink a bit and leave it in for a few minutes only. It can be a drastic or a subtle of a change as you choose.

Thanks ! Yes, it is indeed my Miller, my first one actually. I gave it a new bash since then. As it really goes well with this jacket and some of you nick-named it the "Last Crusade" jacket, I gave my first Miller a "Last Crusade" bash (softer pinch and narrower brim). I should post some pics soon comparing it to my second Miller with its "Raiders" bash.

I love the color of that jacket, Tone! As you mentioned though, something does seem a bit "off" about it if your looking for a true Indy Jacket. It kinda has a LC look to it to me.

Thanks, J_Weaver. Yeah, not the best "Indy" but this color is almost hypnotizing and you know, for someone looking for a blend of an Indy style with an A-2 "Sense about it", this sorta fits that bill.

Hey Indiana Tone, just an observation, but I have a U.S. Wings Antique lamb jacket and mine looks totally different in color and texture. Is yours a newer version? I got mine early last year. I don't even wear mine because it has this awful grain going across the back, I mean it really stands out. However I happen to love the color of my jacket, its just the texture I don't like...just curious if you just got yours.

Profwex, I got it a day or so before posting. Yes, it's new. Interesting about the texture on yours. Care to throw up a few pics for comparison? Is your whole jacket "off" for texture or just a panel?

The texture looks a lot like the one of my A2 goatskin. Although it is not so obvious on the entire surface, mostly on the right sleeve.

Man that jacket has aged nicely! The color looks even better with time. Hypnotizing, I tell ya. I see what you mean and that's what I thought you were talking about. My jacket was a gift and I'm lucky the panels are all smooth but I can see how the chances of getting a panel or two that are completely off when buying one of these can be nerve-wracking and make people hesitant to even consider one. (Not to mention their misses on accuracy here and there. However, (if this is any condolence) up until a few months ago something like that would have driven me nuts - that is until I found caps like this: Suddenly, imperfect lamb in places isn't so horrendous after all. I hope that's not what's keeping you from wearing that thing. The color and aging on that looks fantastic!

Hey Tone thanks for the compliments, I wore that jacket lots, but after getting my wested I put the lamb away..That pic makes me wanna reconsider breaking the lamb back out.. I guess its not so bad after all thanks Man...
