Well, I got my airsoft "Indy" revolver in the mail today. Here are a few shots of it. I'll add this to my "gear review thread" later.

Yep... same model I have as well, except that mine was originally chrome. Did your's come with the extra grip piece on it? Also, what was the verdict on the orange safety ring that they ship with? Was it painted on or a plastic piece you pulled off/out? I can't remember for sure what it looked like when it first arrived. These make a great Indy gun, IMO, and I think you will enjoy it. Congrats PH! Ken

Congrats PH! Ken Thanks RB. I totally agree that these make great "prop" Indy revolvers. I forgot that yours started out chrome. Nice job again on painting yours. I got the gun this evening and I planned on taking a shot of it fresh right out of the box so people could see what it looks like when it arrives. I got so caught up with messing with it that I totally forgot.....kind of that "Kid with a new toy" type of mindset. Yes, it did come with that extra grip piece like it's show on the cover of the box. It took me like 30's seconds to unscrew the grips and take that off. ;D It also did come with a painted orange tip and not the plug!!! Ugh! This is the one major complaint I have about this. I can kind of get by painting stuff and at first I thought I might get away with scratching the orange off to reveal the black underneath. No such luck. No matter how light I scratched the orange it went all the way down to the bare metal. So I ended up sanding most of the orange off and used some glossy black paint to paint the tip. Well, I didn't like how that looked so I ran down to the hobby store and picked up both a flat black and a jar of the color gun metal. I also got some thinner. I removed the damn glossy paint and then tried the gun metal color first. That ended up being a little bit to light and blueish so I took what little I had put on of that off and tried the flat black next. This is how the barrel tip was when I took the pics above. As you can see the tip looks to dull. So after taking the pics I went back and removed the flat and went back to the damn gloss which now after drying looks the best. So basically I went in a complete circle! ;D I'm not totally happy with the painted tip but I can live with it for now. I thought about seeing if the gun can be taken apart and using spray paint on the whole thing and then sealing it. That would be down the line though. For now it's fine and you really can't see it unless you stare at it.

Sweet looking prop piece, PH!!! I agree that this is one of the closest options out there for a decent Indy revolver, if you can't get your hands on the real deal. Not a bad job, by the way, on covering up the orange tip...if you want to try and replicate the Stembridge ("suitcase") gun, a little wear at the end of the barrel would actually make sense. Either way, you have a fine new addition to your Indy arsenal there! -GCR

That is a very nice piece. Reminds me of a S&W #10 that I used to have. I think that will make a great Indy revolver.

I need to take a better shot of it though and add it to my gear review thread. So far it's the closest and cheapest replica "Indy Gun" I've seen. RB owns one as well and I've wanted one ever since I saw his. It just so happened that I had the cash to get it. One thing RB told me and I didn't get any when I bought it was the green gas for the gun. I guess when you use that in the gun smoke rolls out after you fire it giving it an even more realistic look. I may end up ordering some just for that. ;D

Hi Guys.New member, Just jumped over here from COW. I've been considering adding the gunbelt rig and S&W to my collection. After reading this thread,The Airsoft and Todd's belt /holster look like a good, economical choice. Thanks to Pitfall H.and others!

Welcome Raider57! Glad myself and the other could be of some help to you. I have Todd's "original" standard holster and I wanted to buy the new version but I just haven't had the cash. The gun fits perfectly into my holster and it should yours too. Like GCR said.......I can't wait to see what the new version looks like.

Gosh, I have no idea?! I mean it's a BB gun and not a real one but I don't know what kind of laws they have up there. At a distance the gun does look real with the orange tip painted black. I'd check first before ordering one. It may get caught up in customs and then you'd be out $50 or $60 bucks!

Yeah, definitely check out your local laws governing the ownership of "modern" replica handguns. I know here in Massachusetts, you can't have them shipped to you, but I believe it is still legal to own them. One thing some folks should watch out for, though: removing or altering the orange tip on these types of replica or airsoft guns is a violation of Federal law in the U.S. Just something to be careful about if you happen to be out taking gear-pics somewhere and the cops show up. ;D -GCR

I have what may seem a strange question: Can you remove the handle grips? If so, do you think that some genuine grips would fit? If this is the case, I might as well go get one and a pair of grips... budget allowing of course. -Josh

Yep, the grips come right off with a screwdriver. I know G-Mann put some wooden grips on one of the airsoft guns he owns(ed). I'm not sure if they were standard or custom made though.

I really don't imagine regular S&W wooden grips will be too pricey. But I doubt they'd fit without mods.
