J,
That is one nice handgun. I love to look at these things but can't buy due to my location.
Cheers, G-MANN

I just don't understand why some people (and governments) can't see that the only people firearms restrictions hurt are the law abiding, honest citizens, not criminals that would do us harm. But lets not get off on that tangent.

Thats a real shame G-MANN. I just don't understand why some people (and governments) can't see that the only people firearms restrictions hurt are the law abiding, honest citizens, not criminals that would do us harm. > It's real simple. People don't pay attention to politics. They elect candidates by the 5 min news blurbs they see of them on TV. The slimy more articulate ones usually are the ones that people focus on because they're "charming". These are the type that usually have less backbone and mostly likely to be complete idiots. This is why we get these goofball laws that basically crap on the good people and reward the ones that are the real problem. They just passed a frigging law in California outlawing spanking kids. That's right. If your a parent and you get caught spanking your child, I'm not talking beating them with a stick , you could go to jail for up to a year! MORONS! Michigan passed a law that if you cheat on your spouse and you get caught you could get life in prison. I'm not promoting adultery but come on....We don't have room in our prisons now! If this law goes national just about everyone in Washington will be sitting behind bars.......Hmmm, now that I think about it....maybe that one is not so bad. ;D Anyway, not to get off on a tangent. I wanted to post about the guns. I kind of like the 1917 gun but the model 22 looks more like a "modernized" version of the gun Indy carried. I like that one better. It looks like it's got some "muscle" to it. I could own one but these are running at $700 to $800 a pop and right now I really don't need one. Even I'm kind of nervous having a gun in the house with my kids being so young. Maybe later on down the road. Right now I'd rather spend the money on an X-Box 360. That way I can shoot people without going to jail. ;D

I hear you Harry! That CA law is nuts! You can't spank your kids!?!?!? You know, the funny thing about the model 22 is that is actualy closely resembles the 1st Model Hand Ejector (pre-dates the "Indy" model) but S&W stopped making it because it was a bit more expensive. But now they've gone back to a slightly modified version of it. Go figure? And yes, the bloody things are expensive. But what isn't these days. I understand what you mean about your kids, but IMO, education is key. Its like teaching your kids not to play with matches run with scissors, etc. I can remember my dad and grandad taking me shooting with them, letting me hold their guns when they were cleaning them and that type of stuff. It really removed the curiosity and "mystery" about them. I never really had the desire to fool around with them unless one of them was around. Of course my respect for the pain a leather belt can enduce also helped! ;D

The people do see it. Somewhere they got used to getting it backwards and the government has become the "few" deciding what is best for the majority. Used to be the majority decided what's best for the majority. Ah, you're right. No tangents.
That is a great looking gun. And it's about time they brought this back.

They reintroduced these in a limited run about 4 years ago also. I was all hot to buy one until I found out the price. $899 in my area. In the previous run, they offered two versions: 45 acp and 45 Colt. I ended up just buying an vintage one for $200. I've been more than satisfied with it and I don't have to worry about holster wear or scratching a $900 gun. Maybe they'll be a little cheaper this time around. As far as stupid gun laws go, I've got a 94 lever action Winchester that's classified as an "assualt rifle" in CA because it holds 11 rounds. When is the last time anyone pulled a drive by with a lever action Winchester and what were they driving? A buckboard?

Are these available now, or just 'coming soon?' I need to start applying for a current pistol permit if they're selling them right now...

Are you planning to leave it "as is" or do you intend to have it modified to look like one of the Raiders revolvers? I've been thinking about picking one of these new S&W's up and having it modified to look like the Raiders "Bapty" revolver (that would be the actual "shooter" not the "suitcase" gun). Have you put any rounds through it yet? If so, how's it shoot? And of course...you got any pics? ;D -GCR

i would like to have a 4 inch barrel on it , but im gonna need a smith for that, i got the gun at costello,s in north college hill in ohio.. the way they talked these must be hard to get, i could have got a nickel one for around 780.00 or a 4 inch barrel model that had the ejector shroud, i didnt like the shroud so i went with the long barrel..the s&w doesnt feel as massive as my new service, i might just have the barrel cut down on the colt..i havent got around to taking it to the range yet but hope to soon..while i was at costellos i picked up a nickel model 10 m&p.. you know the more i think about it im gonna sell the new service..

somebody fill me in on how to put pics on and i will post them of the smiths and colt,, If your pictures are already uploaded onto your computer, then I would head to Photobucket.com and sign-up for a free account. Once you've created an account, it's easy to load the pictures into your online album, where they will be hosted for free. Once you've got the pics you want uploaded, make sure they're not too big (600 x 400 tends to work best. You can resize them through photobucket or make them small before hand) and then just click in the field that says IMG link and the link will be automatically copied. Then come here, reply to this post and once you get the text field, just right click and hit "paste" to paste the IMG link here. When you post the reply, the images should appear. At least I think that's how it goes... ;D Can't wait to see your pics! -GCR
