A package with second-hand Indiana Jones gear, bought from a member on COW, just came in this morning. Among the items were a rubber Webley MK IV and a Raiders holster from Western Stage Props. I just thought I would share some pictures with you people. The Revolver is cast is solid hard rubber with a metal lanyard pin attatched. It is, though somewhat roughly finished, very detailed, with all the original markings present. The MK IV is smaller than the MK VI used in LC - and fits the Raiders Holster perfectly. Front view of the holster - I am impressed by the quality of the finish and workmanship. This holster is not just a costume piece. Back view of the holster - showing the label of the maker; Alfonso's Holster and Gunshop i N.H. Calif. I am very happy with the set - and though it is not screen accurate to use them together (heck, the MK IV is not screen accurate at all) it still has a nice "Indy-feel" to them /Jakob

Thanks Here is a picture of the whole lot I bought: A rubber Webley MK IV, a Raiders holster, an 8 ft. swivel handle bullwhip and a whipholder from WSP, a WPG MK VII bag and a Dorfman Pacific official Indy fedora in wool. /Jakob

Very nice! I had no idea that the WSP holster is make by Alfonso's! Alfonso make top quality gun leather. Just not movie props. Not to say that I don't like my TAG holster, but if I had known I would have gotten a WSP. Ah, hind sight is 20/20.

Jeep, I've got a quick question. Under the flap, is the holster cut straight across or does it dip down to make it easier to grab the gun?

It dips a little down - but only a little.

It dips a little down - but only a little. /Jakob Thanks! If its not too much trouble would you mind posting a pic? My Tag holster is cut straight across. Although it is screen accurate it makes it quite hard to draw, which could be a problem in a tight spot.

JEEP, that holster looks sturdy AND accurate! Nothing beats gear that not only looks accurate, but can hold up as well! The holster alone is worth the lot. I hope you didn't spend too much for it all. Man, if I carried guns that'd be the holster to use! (If you're still going into the leather goods business, that looks like a great pattern to work off of. )

Jweaver: As promished, here is a pic for you. As stated it only dips down a little, but still enough to make a difference I guess. By the way; the "plug" in the end of the holster is made with a hole to allow condensed water, rain and gun-oil to escape from the holster. Tone: I can only agree; there is nothing like gear that is both accurate and sturdy. As to what I paid for the whole lot; let's just say that I paid for the revolver and the holster, the rest came for free I'm not going to copy the pattern, as I have already got a very nice pattern - but I am going to use the WSP holster as a guideline for the quiality I want to end up providing you guys (and girls) with /Jakob

Thanks for posting that last pic Jeep. :DThats the same my my TAG holster is cut. I wish someone would make a holster that is scalloped under the flap. I've found with the cut of these holsters it is imposible to be able to draw and fire as one smooth action. I know this isn't important for a prop holster, but if your carrying a real revolver for self defense its a real issue. I have a pattern also, (I think we have the same one) so if I can find some quality leather I may try to make a holster myself. EDIT: I was lookign at a few screen caps of Raiders this evening and noticed something. The issue seem to be with the TAG holster and not the design of the Raiders holster. In the scene where Indy hands his S&W to Belloq you can see that enough of the grips are exposed to not cause trouble. It seem that with my TAG holster the revolver sits lower, thus causing my trouble. It looks like I my be adding a WSP holster to my "to-get list."

Could you post some detailed pics of your TAG holster for comparison?
The TAG holster is the same as the Keppler holster isn't it?
Thank you in advance.

Sorry, but I don't have a camera. Hopefully, I'll be able to get one soon though.
Anywho, my understanding is that the Keppler and the WSP are the same holsters. TAG was made my Texas Jones. The TAG is a nice holster, but its cut a bit big IMO. I was finally able to help Kim out with his pattern, so I may try my hand at making myself a really custom holster.

I have seen pictures of the backside of a Keppler - the holster doesn't have the Alfonso's Holster and Gunshop i N.H. Calif label stamped on the backside like the WSP holster has. The backsides of the Keppler and WSP holsters are actually quite diffrent from each other; www.adventure-supply.com/images/Leather/LKHolster3.jpgAs far as I understand Keppler designed the holster for TAG - and when TAG stopped it's business Keppler started selling the holsters (and other leather gear) himself on www.adventure-supply.com/ - but I may be wrong. /Jakob

I believe that they have been purchased about a little more than a year ago - but I'm not entirely sure.
As to finding the items on the WSP homepage; do a search for Indiana Jones, then the items will appear. I think they have removed the items from the main page because they wish to avoid any legal trouble with Lucasfilm (I have a faint memory about reading that somewhere on COW - but I'm not sure). As to my knowledge the Indiana Jones related items are still available - but they just want to be discreet about it. They are, as far as I understand, not the only ones being extra carefull about risking violating copyrights now that Indy IV might become a reality soon.

Actually I am wrong Ken's link proves that the items can be found without using the search-button, you just have to dig a little But WSP has put some effort in "hiding" the Indy related things on the homepage - as far as I remember the items were less "tucked away" on the homepage half a year ago. /Jakob

Jakob, thats some interesting info. I thought I read at COW that WSP and Keppler were the same, or at least made by the same people, but I may very well be wrong.

Perhaps I stumbled into some good luck, when posting the links! I screw up often, so it's nice to know I finally got something right for a change! ;D Thanks, Ken
