As some of you know, I have a Toy's McCoy Indy action figure which I absolutely adore. Well, I am considering distressing his leather jacket. Before you all grimace in horror at doing such a thing, hear me out. Firstly, I didn't by this action figure at the full price from E-bay and secondly, his jacket doesnt have a zip, (it was taken off by the last owner as they felt it looked too big for the jacket) so it has already been modified slightly. My only reservation I guess is that if I ever wanted to sell him (pretty unlikely) I may have a hard time doing so. What do you think?

First all of I wouldn't worry about selling him. Those dolls aren't easy to get and I know if I ever got my hands on one I'd keep it forever and I have a feeling your the same way. Secondly, I'd have to see the jacket up close before I'd give any adivce on how to distress it because I don't know it it's real leather or some other type of material. Off the top of my head the safest way I can think to do it without any real damage to the jacket would be to use a little Fuller's Earth on it to dirty it up and remove the shine from it.

STEP AWAY FROM THE SANDPAPER! This would scare me a lot, you get one shot and unless there is a suitable 12" figure jacket you can replace it with then that's it. I dont know what the TM jacket is made out of but chances are it is vinyl and would behave very differently to leather. One thing you might do is try steam, this might give you some of the wrinkling that it currently does not have. Does anyone know of an A2 jacket for 12" figures out there that Canyon coulds use instead? I know there are all sorts of parts you can get for figs. eg www.war-toys.com Cut off the knits.....
