Hello guys, happy to find such great community here and hope to get some recommendations from you for my Halloween costume. I am on a budget of around $150 and want to invest them in the best possible way. Was thinking to get a whip with holder, an MK VII bag with leather strap, a fedora and some clothes for this amount of money. The bag with the leather strap is around $65 on OnlineMilitaria and will try to get some hat for around $30-40 online too. Hope that casual khaki shirt with epaulets and two front pockets will be fine enough and finally regular khaki pants to complete the outfit. However, not sure what to do with the whip - should I buy the cheapest one on ebay for $25: www.ebay.com/itm/300974185040spend ~$10 more for almost the same from jrzjoe (who also sells holders for $10): www.ebay.com/itm/160915119392or find something a little bit more expensive, but at much higher quality? Please, let me know about your opinions - can I pull it without a bag, do I need a special belt as well, what about the bull whip? Thanks and have a great day!

Wow, still no reply? Alright, then, I'll offer my two cents. The quality of the jrzjoe style whips (and presumably the acapulcojoezz as well, since the name and product are similar enough to suggest being the same supplier, although I could be wrong) had been bashed at one time by the experts on this forum, although it might've only been an accuracy/durability issue, neither of which is too big a deal for a one-time/once-a-year Halloween costume. On the other hand, speaking from personal experience, I've never had an Indy whip, and my costume was never too badly crippled without it. Of course, that does depend on how good the rest of the costume is. (I've found that the most important thing is to get a good-enough color and fit for the clothes, you'd be amazed at how far that can get you) TL;DR, decide for yourself how important having a whip for your costume is. If it's not that important to you, then congratulations, you've freed up your resources to maximize the quality of the other items! If it's one of the most important things for you, buy the Whip and Whipholder from jrzjoe. Just my 2 cents.

If your end goal is simply a one time costume for Halloween this year, one that you will likely never wear again, then either of those whips would suffice.
Then again, you may be like many of us here are and once you do costume as Indy, you find that you really enjoy it and want more accurate gear. I owned a jrzjoe whip, and could never get the thing to crack. They are really garbage whips, and really should only be considered a static prop.
Another option for you may be the whip offered by Todd's Costumes.
