Rumor: Bradley Cooper Among Possibilities for New Indiana Joneswww.imdb.com/news/ni56980568/There are rumors, there are big rumors, and then there are stories like this. A new report says Disney, which recently acquired the rights to release more Indiana Jones films, is looking to go the James Bond route with the character. That is, the company could recast him for years to come. Who would don the […]
The post Rumor: Bradley Cooper Among Possibilities for New Indiana Jones appeared first on /Film. » Take it for what it's worth as a rumor, but Disney is not about to sit on a massively profitable franchise that could make them more money. I have a few choices I feel are much better for the role, but they could do worse I suppose. Thoughts? Ken

I don't like the idea of Bradley Cooper as Indy, personally. Maybe he sort of has the look, but I still can't quite see him in the role. Harrison Ford did it like no one else could. I at least want one more with Harrison. If they do cast a younger Indy, my choice would be Chris Evans.

Maybe Nathan Fillion could have another crack at something... Though I agree, it wont be the same.

They can say they "debunked" the Bradley Cooper part of the rumor, but the recasting part is more alive than ever today: www.geek.com/news/star-wars-vii-may-trigger-new-indiana-jones-trilogy-without-harrison-ford-1589527/www.businessinsider.com/is-harrison-ford-being-replaced-as-indiana-jones-2014-3I believe this was a test of the waters, to see people's reaction to the idea of Indy being recast to an earlier part of his life. No matter who they choose when the news is officially released, it's going to happen. I agree that while we may know Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, his current age and the fact that he would likely be 75 by the time shooting was going on signal it's time to revisit Indy at an earlier point in his life. I would prefer picking up somewhere several years before Temple Of Doom (maybe even ten years or so). That would allow for several adventures in the timeline that wouldn't even affect the movies currently in existence. Ken

Nah, that's sourced from the exact same Latino Review article SlashFilm debunked.

Actually, the replacement of Harrison/reboot if you prefer hasn't been debunked at all. Only the specific naming of Bradley Cooper has been reported as being a rumor. There are other sources within the confines of Disney that insist there is a deadline to make Indy 5 happen with Ford in place. Otherwise, the recasting/rebooting to an earlier period in the character's life is the direction they intend to take.
The funny part is when one of these reporters asks Lucas what the intentions are. He has no say in the matter, since he no longer owns Indiana Jones. He's long been an unreliable source for information, even when he made the decisions, as he changes his mind so often he's not sure himself.

Oh the mystery.... I just hope they choose the man's man; the "average Joe." That's why I like the character so much. He is the anti-superhero superhero complete with flaws and pissed off, sarcastic emotions; someone that actually bleeds. I swear if they choose some Channing Tatum bull****, we have to write up a petition. Haha
Now that I think about it... Ewan McGregor wouldn't be a bad idea (for a Brit ;D ).
