I started making whips recently and her are a few. I am new to whip making, but I shadowed local Whip Maker Steve Townsend when I made my 1st one. It was made by hand...all box cutter...no strander. They all have an 8" Spike for a foundation. There are two 4 plait bellies. Cow hide for Bolsters and core. I haven't found good hide for falls so the Falls on them are either a Joe Strain or a Casey Tyler. Every thing was rolled well and shelacked . Lead is wrapped around the heel knot handle to give it balance. I have test cracked them. I am selling pretty much all of them just slightly over cost. I am off to a great start. I have been bugging Joe Strain and Casey Tyler like crazy...but in a good way and they were glad to help. Please email me at indyvictory@yahoo.com if interested...or PM me. I am wanting to make a superior product and plan on making many more in the future. I am willing to talk about making a whip if we can agree on terms. I am only making 12 or 16 Plait Bullwhips currently, but will eventually work on a Snake whip and a Stock whip. LMK know if there are any questions. -Blake
1) 3rd Whip I made...6' KOTCS Style 12 Plait. This is the 3rd Whip I have completed. The Whip is a 12 Plait ending in a 6 Plait Fall Hitch. This is a great whip but has a few flaws so I am selling it just a little over cost. The Flaws are there are 3 slight and are in the braiding. One by the transition knot, one where I dropped a strand, and one just on down the thong. All are on the Bellie side. Due to the whiskey hide it is all barely noticeable. Have Pic's with me pointing at them. The handle is wider like a Raiders, but is a 2 pass and a 6 bight like the KOTCS

The next 4 whips, I made side by side. I made cores at same time, then made 1st bellies at the same time, and the bolsters, 2nd bellies, bolsters, overlays etc....I made the 8the whip last in session, but finished the knots 1st.
2) 5th Whip I made...6' Raiders Style 12 Plait. Got the 5 part 4 Bight 3 Pass Heel Knot, but the hide strands came from a different hide then the overlay and is lighter then the rest of the whip...should darken over time though. This whip may have minor imperfections, but I don't see any. This whip was done very well! It's a little thick...around 26mm, but adds tot hat raiders bullwhip feel. I had the handle flare out for the raiders effect.

3) 6th Whip I made 5' Raiders Style 12 plait. Heel Knot is a 5 part 4 Bight 3 Pass. Same as the 6'er...Heel Knot strand is from a different hide and is a lighter color. This is also a really great whip wrist loop has a strand that is a little thin in a couple of spots, but not a problem at all. I think these is 1 small ...small gap in 1 strand several inches away from the fall hitch. I couldn't find when I took pic's but I am pretty sure it is there somewhere. Other then that this whip is great. May have minor imperfections...but I believe I covered them all. it's a little thick...under 26mm, but I feel that adds that raiders bullwhip effect. I had the handle flare out for the raiders effect.

4) 7th Whip is a 4' 16 Plait 3-tone Natual-Red-Natural-Brandy The transition is Red and Natural. The Heel Knot is a 5 Part 4 Bight 3 Pass wit Natural and Brandy. The Only Flaw is in that the handle pattern. I started the diamond and went into a Under 2 over 2 under2 over 2...and there is a braid that looks bad..well ugly. Other then that the whips is GREAT! Look at the Heel Knot, I purposely had the knot place below the Nail. I thought it looked good on this whip. Slightly thick...around 24mm

5) This is the 8th whip I made...This one isn't for sale, So sweet i had to keep it. I am willing to recreate it if some one want,s but I don't plan on selling for just slightly over cost. As you can see I have gotten better each time and this one really shows it off. This is a 6' 12 Plait 5-tone. 1st belly was made before I figured out my belly problem...but it is just under 24mm above the transition. I made the overlay from some scrap strands and several other I cut out. The whole "salvage strands" is one reason I am happy about making it. It is a 6' 12 plait. Color scheme is red-saddle tan-whiskey-red-brandy-black. The wrist loop has the same pattern. The 6 strand fall hitch has the same pattern as well. Transition is 3-tone red-saddle tan-whiskey. Heel Knot is my 1st 5 part 4 bight...should have done my usually 6 bight since i added my 1st councho. I saw a SWEET looking silver Cross on a black background Councho and had to add it. Heel knot is 3-tone red-brandy-black. The taper is great as well.
