Crispe Lamb vs Shrunken Lamb vs regular lamb

Considering Wested Hero, and the Crispe lamb appears appealing on the site, but some of the posts I've seen here it looks like alligator, which isnt a look Im going for. I like the look of the leather a lot if it werent for the dinosaur skin. The Shrunken lamb also looks very "I had a fight with a dryer" look, but could look much nicer in person.

Does anyone have experience with these new leathers, and would a regular goat or regular lamb be a wasted opportunity?


I was hoping for washed goat after reading through this forum but Wested doesnt offer it anymore


Its tough to know what these will look like in person and how they will wear. I think I am torn between the three types of lamb and defaulting to a goat for durability

The shrunken lamb and Crispe version are both vegetable tanned leathers, which is ideal for an Indy jacket because it's more rugged and organic in appearance and of the way it ages and develops its own patina over time. I purchased the Crispe version a couple years back and I can honestly say that the leather feels very tough and has some weight to it. The texture can also seem a bit over the top and definitely is not the right jacket to get if you are concerned about having it resemble the same texture, movement and fluidity as the film jacket. I have not seen their shrunken lamb in person but, between the two, it would seem to be the better route to take.

that is a very sharp jacket all-around, nice cut. I think the grain is too pronounced for me though.

I am leaning toward shrunken lamb, but am cautious about how smooth or beaten it will look, because I know batches vary substantially. It may be a roll of the dice.

I think the cut of the crispe is excellent though

as an update, I ordered the shrunken lamb hero ( if you're from NYC, that must sound delicious) from Wested

I followed up with an email asking for the smoothest shrunken lamb they have, but no response. I have heard on here that they can be spotty with their communications.
