CROSS OF CORONADO
Ladies and gentleman, I’m proud to present you our version for this very very important prop: The Cross of Coronado!
We work very much on it… when I said very much I mean VERY MUCH.
Just for information, a little story on the work for that prop!
We studied every details in every picture of the original prop: movie, old pictures, rare pictures, exhibition pictures… all we can find we analyzed in every details.
This cross was entirely made by hand. It was sculpted with many care in every point. My travel in Valencia for the exhibition help us to find all answer that we always searched in these years.
Who of you that follow our WIP thread regarding this prop, know well all difficult that we meet during the production of this prop; initially for the sculpt itself (Christ face and its position behind the ring of the head is something that take us more than 3 weeks of test!!!). After done all sculpt the problem was to find a source that could work with us to made various copies in brass… I don’t want to tell you how difficult was this part… infact we decided at the end to made it in zinc, brass plated!
At the end we find someone and… the cross is finally completed made in brass!!!
Unfortunately to made it in brass we have to made double work ourself, cause we have to made (for EVERY cross) 1 mold in wax, from this one we have to create another one in gypsum and after we can give this to foundry.
But stop to talk of the creation of this prop and talk of the prop itself!
Cross of Coronado materials:
- Every part of the Cross itself was made in brass
- 4 Blue Lace Agate stones
- 12 real Akoya pearl
- 0,5 kg! This is HEAVY
- Brass chains (bigger and smaller, to attach it)
- Resin part for the inlay color. We created 2 different level of blue color, just like the original. It will change with different light. You can find it very dark blue (like the Lucas Archive picture) or a very shine blue (like the movie/exhibition cross). The outer part was made in a lighter blue… that color in some light condition appears white (this is the reason cause all of us thinked to the mother of pearl).
Every cross will have a natural brass aging on the brass part. We used some chemical component to accelerate the aging process. About the other parts of cross, the aging will be personalized… people will choose how will look his personal cross!
Some info about this run:
This will be a limited run. We still don’t know how many cross we could do, cause some materials is very hard to find. So we’ll made this limited first run (hoping to made a second one, if request coming and if materials will be available).
VERY IMPORTANT:
List for this prop WILL NOT BE SHARED. I’ll create it but will not be visible for you.
I’ll put your name on list only AFTER we’ll receive deposit. If we’ll not receive deposit, I’ll not add your name in my list. If you want to give deposit and will be too late, I’m sorry but you loose your cross!
Price:
Price for that Cross will be 400$ plus shipping!
Necessary deposit to have your name in list will be 150$, remained payment will be asked before shipping, after every cross was done.
You can choose shipping method, fast shipping (NOT cheap, but very secure) or slowly shipping (cheap).
