Having recently purchased a few bullwhips from Terry Jacka within the last month, I'm aiming to save up for a genuine David Morgan 10 ft. Indy whip. As you know, they aren't cheap, but I've got my heart set on owning one and have already set a chunk of money aside.
In the interest of funding this purchase, and also thinning out my collection, I'd like to pass these on to fellow board members here who will appreciate them as much as I have.
First available is an 8 ft. Terry Jacka Indy 4 Bullwhip in Saddle Tan. The leather used was a much darker shade than other Jacka Indy 4's that I've owned (as Terry notes that he can make no guarantees on the color because he doesn't tan the hides himself.) It's more of a whiskey, or reddish brown color with the standard saddle tan knots. In fact, if the knots were died black it would perfectly match the color scheme of the hero whips used in the film.
This whip is USED and does have one minor ding on the thong (which is highlighted), but is merely cosmetic. I made the mistake of letting my nephew try cracking it, and he hit a nearby rock which caused the nick. But as I said, it's merely cosmetic and didn't break the strand. It's nearly new since it's only about 5 months old. It's been used gently on clean, dry grass, and conditioned properly. I've attached a polypro cracker which is similar to the one Terry sent it with. Though the cracker is not original, the fall is. I paid $647.40 USD which included shipping and insurance from Australia. I will include the certificate of authenticity from Terry and all relevant paperwork.
Please note that where I am pointing on the thong of the whip is the location of the ding.
Asking price of $550.00 USD including insurance and shipping.
The second whip is an Ebay find. It's an 8 Ft. Joe Strain Standard Indy Bullwhip in Natural Tan. It is barely USED and practically new. The previous owner had only used it a handful of times, and I myself used it gently on clean, dry grass only a handful of times. This whip rolls out beautifully and has a really nice action to it. The plaiting is super tight and smooth. With Joe being mostly retired from whip making, it is not only a great addition to someone's Indy gear, it's likely to become a much sought after collectable which will only go up in value over time.
Asking $440.00 USD including insurance and shipping.
Thanks for looking fellow Indy fans! Any questions you have, feel free to ask!
