Following this link www.filmjackets.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6&sid=e998d0c5857a122d582bb2a0975b1eceTells me it should be 1.5" from the zipper seam. It also says the Left pocket is only 1" from the storm flap. That might be what is "throwing you off" when looking at it. Plus the Storm flap is 1.5" wide so that probably doesn't help it look even at all. BUT, I bet with the jacket zipped up and the storm flap covering the zipper, they look and are evenly spaced. A plethora of info on all the Indy jackets are found there as well.

Thanks for the reference but aren't those fan estimated measurements? I think that my major complaint here is that I would have preferred the pockets to be placed closer to the front on the jacket just like they are on the film version jacket. Mine appear to be placed a little too far away, more towards the sides of the jacket, and it just dilutes the Raiders vibe.
The Tony Nowak jacket is supposed to be an exact, stitch for stitch, replica of the screen used one that he had in hand. Could someone who owns one of his jackets please tell me what the distance of their pockets measure?

On my Gibson & Barnes it is RH; 1 1/2" edge of pocket to edge of jacket, and LH; 1 1/4" edge of pocket to left storm flap seam.

The distance on the storm flap side is equal to the width of the flap this is correct. When zipped up the pockets are centred on the flap this is also correct.
The reason why the pockets look like they are further back on the jacket is because your jacket body is much slimmer than the screen jacket which was a 40/42. Therefore the back edges are closer to the side seams.
There is no way to have the pockets look further from the sides of the jacket unless you make them narrower, or smaller and that would cause all sorts of problems.

I don't think that the pockets need to be any more narrow. The measurements of this jacket are as follows:
Chest: 19 Waist: 18 Back: 22 Shoulders: 17 3/4 Sleeves: 23 1/4 Pockets: 5 3/4 x 7
I think that the pocket size needs to be a little bit wider, perhaps. This was the recommended pocket dimensions for this size jacket when I asked them about it but it's obviously a little off. The distance of the right pocket from the edge of the zipper measures about 2 1/2 inches while the left pocket is about 1 1/2 inches from the storm flap. Both pockets are also very close to the stitching of the side straps.

If the pocket were wider it would take up even more space on the front of your jacket.
What has happened is: because your jacket is so slim they have had to make all the body panels narrower.
The result of that is, effectively, they have taken several inches out of the jacket at the seam at the sides.
If you keep the pocket relative to the storm flap, which is the way all Indy jacket makers do, you eventually end up with the outer edge of the pocket closer and closer to the outer edge seam. Which is what is happening on your jacket.

i've spent several hours comparing sizing charts online, and was wondering if I can run by my specs so maybe any of you with sizing experience or a similar build can find any flaws. I want to avoid ordering an expensive jacket and discovering the sleeves or back are too long or too short, even though I try measuring. An inch can mean a lot. I have several jackets that when measured they come out the same but they hang longer or shorter than the other in reality (which makes me paranoid) Im 6'0" 185 lbs 42R
Considering a 25" or 26" sleeve, and a 24" back (dont want a long jacket, just enough to fully cover the belt by a couple inches)
I think 26.5" goes past the first knuckle of the thumb, I would lean toward 26", but I think a 25" would hang down more comfortably below the first thumb knuckle. Is that dangerous thinking?
