I decided recently to take the slider buckles off my Todd's Standard and replace them with antiqued brass d-rings like the LC/CS jackets. I like the overall look of the d rings on the jacket more than I do the black slider buckles that were on the jacket to start with. Here is a before and after of the jacket buckles. Please comment and let me know what everyone thinks! Attachments:

I am interested in your decision to change to the D rings. I really like the look, and, truthfully, like it better. Just curious as to your reasoning -- considering that the 'SA' concept so many hold to be the 'ulitmate look,' so to speak! I really do like this! W>

Wconly, thank you for the positive reaction. In all honesty, I have never really liked the look of the black sliders even though they are "SA". I personally always liked the LC jacket out of all of the film's jackets and it had the d ring buckles. The Raiders jacket is what started it all and I love the look of the Todd's jacket, just not the sliders. It was more of a personal choice more than anything to change it over to the d rings.

Well, I really do like it better this way, but that's me! I just think the look is 'cleaner!' What did you have to do to change from the slider to the rings? W>

I just had to find the antiqued brass buckles that fit the leather straps on the back of the jacket. They had to be ones are split in the middle of the flat portion so you can spread it apart to work into the loops. I placed them over a pair of pliers and opened them to spread it open. I then took some wire cutters and sniped the middle post off the original sliders and worked the rings on and then squeezed them with the pliers to close them and you're done. All in all it took me maybe 10 minutes to change them out.

Nathan....
Wise choice....I went with the ring sliders on my first custom Raiders from Wested......I think they look a little smoother as well...While not especially "SA" for the final film, they're still "SA" in spirit, since the original film was meant to have used rings instead of the block sliders...But changed them over due to problems with the straps slipping out....
So...You're probably fine there too.....It's clear that the team working on Indy wanted that to be the look, since they changed it after Raiders (same with the hat), so you have a "Raiders Spirit" jacket....All good!

Thanks Ben! I just like the look better in every way. I was having to double slide the straps anyway (doubling back over the buckle) and it created a bulge in the back of the jacket. This way the bulge is gone, the look is smoother and I just like the jacket more!
