Dear friends,
Quite a while ago (more than 2 years), I ordered one of Marc's Adventurebuilt Deluxe fedoras. As you know, he has quite a waiting list because of the amazing quality of what he crafts. So for me, it was quite a wait!
When my turn finally came and my hat arrived... it was more beautiful than I can tell you - but many of you know this. The craftsmanship Marc puts into his hats is a lost art, except for Marc. In short, it is amazing. It is a Crystal Skull style.
Here's my dilemma...
In the intervening time, after having Marc craft the hat to my specific instructions (and here, please understand I am not criticizing anything Marc did. He made the hat according to what I requested), I began to cut my hair very short.
So, in short, pun intended, the hat is too big for my closely cropped head.
What to do? I could send it back and pay to have it recrafted smaller. I would pay shipping - a hundred dollars in shipping each way - plus, I would pay Marc, since it is my problem, plus I'd have to pay to ship it back to me.
I know what you are probably thinking... put something under the liner. Tried it. Unfortunately, my transition from thick to thin hair left too much space to fill.
I know steroid use has been associated with increasing head size. Not interested. My natural manliness suffices.
I know you are now thinking I should grow my hair longer again. Sadly, those days are behind me. Doesn't look good anymore, which is why I cut it short.
So, here I am with a great hat that hangs on my hat rack and I look at it longingly every day. Just darn! But, over the last 6 months, I've grieved and let go of my Adventurebuilt dream. Now I'm ready to let go of my hat too.
I'm thinking that someone here, who wants a Marc hat, but doesn't want the wait, may step forward and offer to buy it.
Here's some detail, if you are interested...
1. Style - Crystal Skull Fedora
2. Size - 59 cm (measured 50 times to make sure I ordered correctly)
3. Order info - Originally contacted Marc on 9-14-2009! Hat delivered on 5-11-2012. Dreamed about every week!
4. Still have original box
5. Original price, including shipping $649 euros. As I type, this is the current equivalent of $848 usd. Unfortunately, it was more dollars than that when I ordered, but things change.
I think that covers my dilemma and perhaps someone's opportunity. Totally my responsibility that it doesn't fit. The hat is amazing, as Marc promised. Buying my new hat may save someone a very long wait to their dream. This assumes your hat size measures close to 59 cm.
Since we are in the holiday season, this all may fall on deaf, distracted ears. Still, it was on my mind this morning, when I looked at my hat again. It wants someone to benefit from the glory of an Indy hat.
So anyone interested? You can reach me at the following email address.
Just a caveat:
1. I will not respond to anonymous emails. I only want to deal with reputable people.
2. I will look at the offers that come in over the next week or so and then choose. I'm not trying to start a bidding war. I'd like a fair price in exchange for an amazing value.
3. To the moderator of this forum... if I've violated a rule here, mea culpa. Please move to the correct place. Thank you.
4. Shipping cost to be negotiated .
Kindest Regards and Merry Christmas,
Dave
