Hello everyone! I have a few questions about whip holders. How does everyone keep thier whips on thier belts without them slipping? I have a whip holder that I modified slightly with a piece of elastic and velcro that keeps it coiled, but I was wondering how everyone keeps thiers on thier belt.
The other question is how long is the super whip holders or double wrap holders and do they really work?

Yes super belt holsters do work well quite well and also a modified holsters that have loops that folds the holster tight against the whip keeping nice and snug work great other than that your whip will be slipping down to your feet not cool

Wade Egan's design is the best out there....No doubt....
It holds the whip solidly, not slip at all..And whatever I do, it won't move until I release it...It's genius...Simple, effective, and easily fitted into the Indy gear...Perfect design and perfectly made..
I would recommend them to ANYONE asking...In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's "needed" if you have a whip and want to carry it on your belt at all....

Pics Ben? I'd love to see the design of it. Since Wade is not doing anymore orders anytime soon according to his FB anyway

Wade always goes an extra mile for decent customers.....It's just the morons who keep emailing him demanding the goods he makes instantly that set his hackles up...And well they should....It's moronic asking someone to do art and then complaining that it takes a certain amount of time to do it...
Wade is the easiest to talk to and nicest vendor out there short of John Penman.....I've never met anyone as nice to chat to as those two men, and they'll always work hard....Even when they say they can't in public..
Send him a polite email and then let him go to work in his own time..I would...

Just got a reply from Wade..he had some of the holders already made up in what I was looking for and in the length of my whip. He is shipping it out Saturday.
I agree Ben, he has always been extremely nice and polite in every dealing that I've had with him. To me, time is not a big factor. I know that good quality work is not done overnight and it takes time to get great products. If I wanted a shabby job, then I would do it myself. If he told me that it'd be a week of whatever to get what I wanted done completed, then so be it. I know that the end result will go beyond my expectations.

Yep...
That comment wasn't at all aimed at you...Just aimed at the guys who jumped on him so much that he wanted to leave the business....
And yeah, entirely right....The Super Holder isn't especially complex, but Wade made them from the start, and is still the best out there for them...I love mine...I can rely on it 100%....And that's a great thing...
You'll be pleased when it arrives..

That is exactly what I need, a whip holder that I can rely on 100%.

I'd suspect you could hang on them and they'd not give brand new...After a while the clasp begins to loosen a touch...But that only makes it even smoother...
The Super Holder is the best thing outside of the whip that I bought for it....And cool as hell...Which helps when strutting about with it attached...LOL

The Super Holder by Wade Egan works great. At first I wasn't sure I'd like it when I first saw pictures of it because it isn't SA, but I didn't care as soon as I saw how wonderful it worked. No slipping and no need to tie fishing line around it and the whip.

I've used my Super Holder from Wade a lot since I received it..even rode a horse with my whip on and it didn't slide out/fall off like it had so many times before. I got to where I just held my whip or tied it to the promel with a string while on horse back, but this was so much better and more Indy like!

Whatever type of medicine you're currently imbibing..I suggest doubling the dose, and staying off the internet until it's out of your system..

This seems a good place for this question, given the thread title... ...does anyone here know of a craftsman that makes the "Raiders" whip-holster, with it attached/permanently riveted to the belt? Like so:I'm not too bad when it comes to doing simple leather-work, but if I can shop it out... all the better. Suggestions?

I'm sure I'm not the first to dissect it, but it looks like it's just a strip of leather that runs under the gun belt(rough side in to contact with the whip), where it is riveted in place, with the male portion of the snap actually attached to the gun belt itself instead of the whip holder being one piece attached to the belt. I've only seen whip holders that go over the belt. I'm curious if this is because it's easier to sell them that way, or if since there aren't enough good, clear shots of it that not many take the opportunity....just thinking out loud there.

Nah, seen many SA gunbelts. But a lot of us prefer practicality over screen accuracy in this regard.

Me, too. I could do that myself, methinks. Just need another belt as I don't want to sacrifice the one I have now.

As much as I want screen accurate whip holders for my Indy costumes, I still have to go with a Super whip holder design, as I would prefer the practicality of having my whip stay in place, over it looking like the ones in the films.
But to each their own. The screen accurate whip holders should be super easy to reproduce.

I'm not as big of an "SA nut" that I'm probably coming off as, I promise lol. I'm planning on doing two different belts just to keep my options open(ok, and to have one that is SA, lol). I definetely don't want to do the permanent attachment and then hate it when out costuming.

If someone has a double wrap whip holder for an 8' whip, could someone measure the total overall length of it? I am going to make one for my new whip instead of ordering one. I'd just like to know how long the strap is in total and how long it is that wraps around it. This way I measure twice, cut once.
Thanks in advance!!
