As you all know, Bond is, in some senses, the spiritual "father" of Dr. Jones - hence the Con man as Indy's father in LC. As you also know, we have a new Bond coming out in a few weeks - Skyfall. I just saw that in some scenes, Bond will be wearing a distressed leather jacket, called the "Levi’s® Vintage Clothing 1930s Leather Jacket." Although it's not an exact match to the Indy jacket, it's pretty darn close (and it's from the same general time period). Check it out: www.jamesbondlifestyle.com/product/levis-vintage-clothing-1930s-leather-jacketI'm guessing it's a coincidence, but I could be wrong! Perhaps the Bond people are having a bit of fun with their character's dramatic progeny. Nice jacket, but at $900, I think I'll wait for prices to drop.

That is a nice classic looking jacket with pockets that are better suited for daily use (IMO). Though, I'm with you on the price tag as well.... yikes! Thanks for sharing, Ken

I wouldn't say it's close at all. It's a half-belt design jacket that was popular throughout the 30-40's. Hence it being part of the LVC line. As for the price drop - good luck. This wasn't a mass produced run of jackets and although Levi's has released this design a couple of seasons, it has been in different color variations. The few that are remaining for sale online, will be snatched up once Skyfall is released.

Assuming your comparing the pockets to Indy pockets, I have to say I like the Indy design better for practical use. They're bigger, for more stuff, and the snap-flaps keep stuff from falling out like can happen with typical slant hand-warmer pockets more designed for keeping your hands in than for keeping things tightly secure. Of course, with Indy pockets, I can have my cake and eat it to, since I can still stuff my hands behind the pockets (provided you're trying to put coffee cups or whatever in them, and at that point, you're over-stuffing them, anyway). Reminds me a bit of when I read this. It's true that the Levi's pockets are more horizontal and go a little deeper down than the pictured Grenfell jacket in the article I linked to, but I still hold misgivings with using standard slanted hand-warmer pockets for more than just hand warming. I'm also not a real fan of sleeve embellishments at the end of them, particularly knit cuffs or seemingly pointless belts that don't appear to be there to do anything except look bold or something. As far as the price is concerned... I'm trying to figure out what about this jacket from Levi's is worth the $900 price tag, even compared with others in the same price range, and I'm not finding it on my own. For $900, I could basically have my way at G&B, and I'd probably be even thinking about Riley (if he's still in the business) or some other high-end make.

Absolutely, it's a very nice style jacket, but the little pockets at the front really are no good for anything much... pack of gum, a bit of loose change... Course, there are cheaper equivalents than LVC for a similar style... if you are looking for one
