A few weeks ago, I was helping my ex husband to take the starter motor out of his 1936 Morris 8. Underneath the car are stones and gravel, so I asked him if he wanted to lie on my Wested, seeing as it's already distressed and he agreed. Some fiddling around later etc, water from the engine dripped onto my jacket, but don't panic! It's now give the jacket an even more distressed creased up look to it! What do you guys think? Also something else I discovered. If you lie on gravelly stones whilst wearing your jacket and moving around, you get the full Fuller's earth effect free of charge!

It works like a charm. I've done the same thing a few times.

Of course you know this already but it looks good. That thought never even occurred to me before. If I get brave enough I'll have to try that. I'm afraid if I was down on the ground like that it might give my wife the opportunity to run me over with the car and call it an accident! ;D ;D

Good work Canyon. Very authentic! It's nice when you realise that ex's are occasionally still useful, isn't it? ;D

That jacket looks better and better all the time and this time it was natural distressing. Cheers, G-MANN

That's a great story that you'll probably always remember. It give's the jacket more character than a wirebrush would. Looks fantastic. When I read the title and saw that your ex helped distress your jacket, I thought maybe he threw you down some stairs or dragged you behind a truck. I'm glad to hear your relationship is much more healthy than that.

Canyon, the jacket scratches look good. If you ever want to blend them in more, you can apply Pecards to them too. The texture will still be there, and so will the scratches... but, it will be less noticeable. Just a different look if you want, but it looks good as it is. Ken

Thanks for the kind comments, guys. Ken, good point. I've been meaning to get some Pecards for some time now.

Man !! The price that these jackets go for, I'm afraid to distress mine by fear or ruining it !! The thing is, for me, is that I like wearing the kind of clothes Indy wears in an everyday fashion, (the clothes, not the entire gear) but I fear that to wear the "distressed" jacket with the hat in an everyday fashion will look like "dressing-up" as Indy(...you know like wearing the clothes as a costume instead of actual everyday clothing). Of course if you are thinking of "staging" pictures or making amateur videos the "distressed" look is perfect, (and I will be making pictures of my own soon, but I still won't distress my jacket for it) ...but for everyday wear ? It's a little too much of "dressing-up"...for me anyway. If I could afford a second "Wested Jacket" I would probably "distress" one for staging pictures, but since I own only one, I prefer to keep it as neat as possible to be able to wear it in a everyday fashion.

I'm with you Stefana. If it wasn't for G-Mann selling me one of his extra jackets at a great price, I would have never had the nerve to hack up my first one! It definitely takes two of them in most cases, before people are willing to distress. I wouldn't have shelled out full price for one, and then distressed it either. It took a great deal to make it an option for me too. Ken
