Folks, I'm pretty sure this is a genuine DM, and pulled the trigger on it. The seller doesn't have the original documentation, so I had to go by photo comparisons. He advised the custom fall was installed for cutting cards/cigarettes and the original fall/popper will be sent with the whip. Any comments? Thanks, gman71

That could very well be a Morgan whip, though that fall is a single tail style like you'd see on a snake whip. You'll want to fix (or have a whip maker fix) the fall hitch so that you can put a more appropriate fall on and easily be able to replace it when you need to. The current one looks too heavy and there is no hitch to speak of, which would make replacement of your fall a nightmare, as well as it looking messy. The rest of the whip looks to be in really great shape, and with that fix, you'd have yourself a really nice looking whip.

Niagrawhipco, cince my initial post, it has been inspected by photograph by David Morgan, who advises it looks like one of theirs, and inspected first-hand by Paul Nolan of Midwest Whips who--based on DM-specific quirks in the construction and years of handling DM repairs--definitively validated it as a DM. Very exciting!

Oh! I almost forgot the add the best part. It's a 1983 David Morgan whip! It's now pretty much the pride of my collection because of what I believe is it's rarity and condition after 30 years.
Cheers,
