::) Hi Everyone, first post here but following the various threads on Wested jackets for a while! So, i've decided to get another Wested after i bought a raiders in distressed cow last year. The jacket was a really nice dark brown colour but didn't quite hang right...i guess because it was as thick as a rhino! After a lot of deliberation i've gone for a Wested Hero jacket in dark brown lambskin. I was really torn between the seal brown and dark brown, but from what i read on here the dark brown seemed more SA. Anyways, i called up Wested and placed the order and the guy on the phone (maybe Peter, not sure) said that the dark brown is quite a bit thinner than the seal brown....has anyone else found this? I'm naturally a bit anxious about it now, but i guess i'll find out when it arrives! Shame the Wested website doesn't have better photos and descriptions of the leathers, but i guess it adds an element of surprise! lol

Honestly, I'd have said that the Seal Brown colour was slightly closer to Raiders...I can't comment on the thickness of the Dark Brown, since I've only seen photos, but the Seal is a reasonably thick hide for lamb..Nowhere near as heavy as my cowhide (distressed), but noticeably stronger than the LC I have from Wested in dark brown...
I think in all honesty that while the Seal brown is a touch closer to Raiders, both of the colours would look amazingly close to Raiders and that you'll end up with a lovely jacket in either event....
Regards..

I really don't know anything about Wested's seal brown, but would assume that it would, in reality, be closer to what is seen on screen then the dark brown. I have one of the dark brown LC style lambs. It is light. It is dark. But, even for being light in weight, it has held up quite well and I have really worn the daylights out of it. Purchased in 2001 or 02, if memory serves me correctly. I am sure you will like the jacket when it arrives. I have had very few issues with any of my Wested's. The minor issues have always been due to wear -- standard utility-type repairs, but not due to manufactuer failure! Looking forward to seeing the jacket when it arrives. Please post pics. W>

Jesus wept Wested...how you toy with me!

I have a hero in the dark brown lambskin and is definitely lighter weight than the seal brown. It isn't so much "darker" as it is is a slightly warmer tone of brown with a bit more red in it. It is a beauuuutiful buttery soft lambskin and if you're looking for a great drape, this is the one.
