I'll post pictures later, but I just grabbed a vintage Dobb's in grey from a local second-hand store. It's a nice looking fedora-- very 60s.
I'm curious, though, of the felt. The inside band is marked fawn. I'm not familiar with fawn felt. What are its characteristics? How does it stack up to rabbit and beaver?
Cheers.

The other question... You may be able to notice that the ribbon is creased in the front, causing it to jut out. Any way to fix that without removing the ribbon?

i would assume fawn is pretty much like rabbit. they are outdoor creatures...always out in dusk, dawn times when its slightly wet on the trees, ground and such..SO I figure its decent with weathering..nice looking hat. You should be able to tack the ribbon back down? UNLESS its stretched out where its "bowing out?"..

Thanks. I assume by tack, you mean throw in a few stitches? I'm not sure any longer that I want to mess with it. I've been wearing it everywhere and have gotten nothing but compliments. But perhaps if I'm feeling ballsy one night.

Wet the ribbon and then use a blow dryer on it.

Slick looking hat you got there. I recently picked up a Beaver felt fedora from a local antique shop. I dig the short brim, it reminds me of Tom Landry.

Thanks!
I saw a vintage (late 40s, I believe) Stetson in beaver at a local antique shop recently. I'm still kicking myself for not buying it. It was a little battered, but only $20, and it fit decently enough. May have to make another trip there, but it's a bit of a hike...

I did the same thing. I saw it, thought it over, and figured hell. Why not? I got it for a great price to. I figured $40 was a steal considering it is custom and vintage, not to mention the quality felt. Not necissarily a great summer or Indy hat, but still great to wear for formal events and as a winter time hat.
