Well, I got my AB Deluxe bagstrap buckle in the mail yesterday, and I couldn't be happier! I was never really satisfied with the original strap buckle I had on my bag, which was close, but not exactly "close-enough". Well, now I have yet another item crossed of my "screen-accurate gear wishlist". I just sanded it a little with some heavy grit sandpaper to give it a distressed look. Check it out and see for yourself: And here's a shot a little further back with some of the other gear: Great job on this one, Marc & Kim! I couldn't be happier! -GCR

GCR, that bag strap and buckle look fantastic. Is the strap an ABD as well, or is it some other make? If so, which is it? Mike

Thanks IB, The strap is the same strap that came with my bag...but since I bought the bag nearly 10 years ago and don't even remember where I got it (I think it might have been WPG? Not sure though...) I subsequently have no idea what the "make" of the strap is. I never really liked the color of the strap, either, (it was too red) so a few years ago I recolored it with pretty good results: And here's a shot of the old buckle. I would love to eventually upgrade to an ABD strap, once Marc and Kim get all the details worked out...but I think I'm going to be springing for a new AB Deluxe Holster first. -GCR

Glad it arrived so fast my friend If you take a file and round the edges off a little, it should be perfect. Here's a comparison shot of the two I sent to Kim. On the right it's right out of the bag and on the left the sanded and filed one. Regarding the straps... I sent my MBA strap off to a nice fella in England yesterday, who's specialist in sourcing MKVII bags. He's about to have it replicated and then sending the pure straps to us, so we can attach the buckle and the AB logo on the backside. Some we'll keep and others we'll send back for him to attach to his original MKVII bags. It's not all in dry clothes yet, but if it works out, we'll soon be offering a 100% bagstrap incl. a "pimped" buckle and if desired also incl. original vintage MKVII bags Stay tuned. Regards, Marc

Wow, I really like what Kim has done with those buckles! I'll have to give that a try on mine. Glad to hear there's progress on the straps as well, I'd love to get rid of this old strap on my bag. Sounds like you're really covering all you bases with the gear offerings these days, Marc! -GCR

I spend about 15-20 minutes water-sanding and polishing one of the buckles just to see what I could do with it. First I took the edges off using a small metal file and then water sanded it using 3 different grains, finishing with a nail polisher I stole it from my wife.
Cheers Kim

That buckle's very Noel Howardish, isn't it? (The one he sells, not the man himself.)
Gear's looking great, GCR!

Which buckle are you referring to, Brett? The AB buckle or my old mystery buckle? ;D I've never actually seen an NH buckle, so I couldn't compare it either way. Oh yeah, thanks for the compliments on the gear! -GCR

Sorry, but I've got a lil' bag of NH buckles here and they're NOTHING allike, except they're metal.

Hmmm, from the picture the AB seems to resemble my NH. I'll pull it out tonight and take another look. It's stayed in the closet to date because I always use my Keppler bag.
In any case, it's a fine-looking buckle! Nice colouring job on the strap, too.

Those are real nice buckles I will have to get one. I purchased the Official Pix Exclusive of the new movie KOTCS and was looking at the to buckle in the pic. It looks alot different than the older ones. The KOTCS buckle looks bent in a V in the middle, and the top of the buckle looks like it has a metal cylinder on it. I scanned the photo and posted it below. Hope it turns out.

Rock Ford,
You are correct...the KOTCS buckle is very different from the more simple Raiders style, but not all that different from some of the buckles used in Last Crusade. I can think of one scene in LC (as Indy prepares to "leap from the lion's head") where the buckle closely resembles the buckle in that KOTCS pic.
It really is funny how many subtle changes there were to the outfit through the course of the films, like the different color web belt in LC, the change in holsters, changes to the bash and blockshape of the hat, minor design differences to the jacket, etc. Makes me wonder how many other little changes we may see in KOTCS.
