So, as I've mentioned in another thread, I'm trying to get a more vintage feel to my travel gear. I'm generally wearing simple Jeans, cotton pants or Cargopants on vacation and I've been wondering just how practical Mr Jones' pants are IRL. I'm usually traveling around Europe with my partner and out dog (Spain last fall (-the dog), southern England this summer): leisurly one-day hikes and strolling through cities (okay, we climbed up the last lap of the Teide on Tenerife last year). How do Indy's pants hold up in everyday wear and tear? I've got no clue about wool pants, so: how long does it take them to dry if the need arises to wash them in the sink? Do they have to be ironed? Are they good to wear during summer?

I have to say, Indy-style wool pants are not very practical, in my opinion. They definitely are not the coolest (and I don't mean in a fashion sense ), they are not the easiest to clean and are not the most comfortable option to wear for extended walking / hiking situations. While I love to utilize other pieces of gear while doing hiking or other outdoor activities (specifically some combination of hat / jacket / MK VII / boots, etc.), the pants are pretty much the one item I have that are almost entirely for costume purposes only. I'm not a fan of jeans myself but if I'm going for a hike I usually grab a pair of heavy cotton twill khaki's or cargo pants. They just make more sense than the old-fashioned wool twill Indy trousers for that sort of thing, plus they're cheaper and easier to keep clean.
