I want a wested jacket and always get alot of info before i buy anything. Whats the difference between a wested Raiders and a wested hero Raiders if both are lamb shin?? Also,i know goat is tougher, but does the color look the same as lamb?? I was told soaking lamb in water gives it a rough and tough look. Will soaking goat do the same?? Any info will be great, thanks all. B.g

The Hero is made using the design used in the original Raiders film...Since that time, Wested had lost the original specs, and although they have had a decent jacket, some aspects of the shape were changed over time...The Hero brings all those changed aspects back to the version we see in the film...Therefore, the Hero is a closer design to Raiders than the Raiders jacket sold by Wested, although the Raiders jacket is perhaps better "design wise"..
The lamb and the goat in Seal brown are both the same colour dye, although small variations will occur due to how well the skin takes to the dye..It's not much different, and you can basically say that they're the "same"...
Of course, wetting any leather enough will cause the skin to change in appearance and size somewhat, so yes, soaking goat would have the same effect as soaking lamb, although again, differences in the skins would mean differences in the changes you see...
It's not that soaking the leather gives it a "rough look", more that it allows the sheen to wear out and forms the jacket better to your own natural shape..It can sometimes bring out some of the finer details in the skins texture, and it does generally help the jacket look more "used", but just that would not make the jacket "instantly rough and used"...It takes a little more, in either time worn, or distressing to get that effect...
Regards..

Gailen...
You make the jacket for a movie that is "just another movie" (You make movie jackets a lot, so it's nothing major), then, when the movie blows up, you realise that you should have paid more attention to saving the specs, and come up with something close enough to satisfy fans in the main to cover yourself..
I'd imagine..No?

Easy- Peter got a hold of a TN Raiders jacket (which was copied from an original Raiders jacket).

Hehe..Yeah..Nick has that one...
Peter isn't stupid, just a little careless... It's HIS jacket, so copying a copy of an original he made is still fair enough, but yeah, copying a Nowak was the surest way to make the jacket "return" to what it had been when he first made it...
(Well, up to the Nowak being copied as well, there were miles of work getting closer and closer to what SHOULD have been the standard "Raiders", but it was all put into solid form with the Nowak to look at...)..
It's an interesting path to see...The back and forths make one quite dizzy actually...
Now, if only Wested would do the same with their Last Crusade design! (Which is closer, but could still be "trimmed" into shape some...LOL...We'll see!)..
