looking to get a wested hero soon....need advice.

I was wondering on size issues. my todds extra large fits great,i had to have 2'' cut off the sleves. Should i just measure my todds and use that for my hero sizing? What leather should i look at for a worn look? Thanks..B.g

Go on the size that fits you, taken from a jacket you like best size wise when you wear it...That is, if you don't have a Wested already that you go on for size guessing..

As for "worn look", the Hero is offered in the Pre-Dis, which is the best looking "Worn look" leather they offer, but there are a couple of cautions with that, one being that it's not especially SA, in the colour of the skin....And the second being that it's a heavier leather, since it's cowhide, not the lambskin of the Raiders original...

That said, it's a LOVELY leather to wear, and if all you're after is the same cut, the Pre-Dis will look great with the Hero pattern, and would make a lovely jacket to wear..Although not one especially SA to the Raiders jacket..

I love my Pre-Dis...But as a "Jacket", not as an "Indy Jacket"...And there is a difference, but it'll depend entirely on what you're looking for jacket wise eh?

(Since you're saying you're up to pay more for the Hero pattern, it kind of follows that you're looking for SA-ness, but that may not be the case...So, which is it? Yes, or no?)

i want a raiders look alike 100% i don't want a costume,i want to wear it everyday in fall and winter. the todds fits great in xl,i just had to cut 2'' off leingth to fit great. is the wested thicker then todds? what leather would look best? I'm going with cotton body in hopes it will be warmer in winter. where do i measure my todds from... shoulder seam to end of sleve and collor line to end of jacket??? Thanks.

Well, then you would want to order a Lambskin, in Seal Brown...I think that's the closest to SA currently available...It won't have a "worn" look though..You'll have to do that yourself...But it's not so hard..Mine has been rained on twice and is already starting to show some nice grain and lose the "new shine" already...If you wanted to work more in it'd be easy enough to do with patience..

I'd say that for Raiders SA-ness, you're probably best with the Lambskin (or goat, but lamb was the original) in Seal Brown....

As for "costume"? No, the Wested's were never that....I am wearing mine today in the 0 degree weather of Tokyo..More than enough..Although any lower and perhaps it'd be pushing it...The Wested lamb is fairly thin...I'd say about the same as Todds, depending on skin used of course...

As for the lining, yes, cotton body and satin sleeves are probably the wisest choice for an easy to wear jacket...

Sizing is as you describe...The sleeves are from the shoulder "point" seam to the sleeve and the back is measured from the mid shoulder point to the base I believe..But you could send Peter an email to double check once you've gotten the rough idea from your Todds..
