I am getting ready to order a jacket from Wested, but am still on the fence on at least one question - getting a "regular" ROLAS jacket or a hero. The question I can't find an answer for is what/how much difference the leather facing makes to the longevity of the jacket. I intend to use the jacket as my "go to" jacket - so its ability to be worn a lot matters. Living in Florida, though, so does lightness. Any members willing and able to comment?
Thanks for any help.

the leather facings only really help when you're the kind of person who zips up without thinking...I've never had any issue with the no-facings zips, since I don't usually rush to do the jacket up..
In all basics, it's probably not such a problem at all...
Lightness wise you're probably better off without...And it does mean the jacket has no lines on the front due to extra leather creating a bulge there, but again, that's not really a huge issue either...
The lightest feeling jacket I own is the Hero, but they're probably about equal in longevity, depending on the amount of distressing you subject the jacket to once it's arrived..
If you want a thicker skin, that'll last longer (like the cowhide, or goat, or the horsehide leathers), but if you're talking lamb, they'll all be about the same..
Regards..
