What is the general consensus on the Steele and Jones fedoras? I was looking into getting another fedora and thought they looked good. I am wanting a LC style fedora and am looking to get an idea if they are worth the money or not. I would like to add that I need a fedora that will take the elements well as I do a lot of outdoors stuff with my fedora.

I do not know much about them... although they do state on their website that they don't recommend that you get the hat wet... which to me seems strange since it's a hat... and that's what it's supposed to hold up to.

Since English isn't their first language, I'm guessing that that was more a general warning about the best way to treat your hat...Not getting it soaked is always a good idea, although many hats are built to take a good beating in the rain...(I don't think they sell Beaver? So perhaps that's why eh? Rabbit isn't quite as strong in repeated downpours)....Just a "general advice" thing perhaps, rather than a "NEVER GET THIS HAT WET" kind of thing?
I'd guess...
Speaking for myself, I think, for the price, the hats look rather good... At least as good as you could find anywhere else for the same price? They seem to hold up rather well in other people's photos too...So maybe they are a good choice for a cheap and well built rabbit offering?
I'd say..

So.....is it worth dropping that kind of money on their fedoras?

Yup.
Although I'd always say "only if saving a little more and buying a Penman isn't a viable option for you at this time"...

Thanks fifth..getting a Penman is always going to be on my list. I thought that the Steele fedoras looked good and for the money it seems like a good deal. I would like to interate that the elements that I put my current fedora in are mostly heat and dirt, but I have wore it in a cave a time or too. The only time it got real wet was in a rain shower but even then it was not too bad wet. So I think that would be ok for those hats..correct me if I am wrong.

Yep, it looks more than decent for that situation...I'd also suggest a Fed IV, as I know those are solid in rain, heat, and nearly everything else, but since the S&J are made for you, they are a touch ahead perhaps...
I'd say you're good with them.
