I have seen these whips. Don't buy one. They are the same level of quality as the Jrzjoe. The fallhitch is wrong. The handle plait is wrong. The knots are wrong. The best bang for your buck is CNC imo. A good quality, cowhide Raiders 8ft for $265, but it is completely worth it. Yes it is a lot more than the Wested whip but the wested whip serves the same purpose as a Todd's. A costume whip. Todd's captures the look a lot better than the wested whip.

A Todd's 8 ft is $100, and that isn't bad either. I have one and I like it. It has a pretty accurate Indy look for a $100 dollar whip. With the Todd's you can moderately crack it but the goatskin wears easier than a cowhide.

As a whip maker myself, I can honestly tell you NOT to buy one
of those whips. They are not well made, even the nylon one,
which is the best of them, has bad strand drops, and not a
good taper. Sure it may look decent in a belt, but it's not a good
crackable whip. Pretty much any whip will crack, but it's not the
good quality whip that is made to crack.

Sadly from the pictures they don't look very good. And don't even get me started on Jrzjoe! I had one of his whips when I first seriously got into collecting IndyGear and what a piece of garbage that was!
For a good whip that is actually functional, I'd say save some money up and get a Purewhips, or Crease and Coral. Both respected whip makers with affordable products.

i dont like the glossy finish the whips have. it makes the leather look really faux.

On the brown one ( leather ) the plaiting twists HORRIBLY and
there is messups in the plaiting pattern in, of all places, right in
front of the picture. It doesn't even have the correct handle pattern,
or the correct handle knots and the wrist loop is round, not flat.
These whips look like somebodies first whip. On my first and
second whip ( none were leather, but one was 20 plait the other
24 plait, stupid 1/8" vinyl lace ) I had messups in the patterns
like that, but not nearly as bad. These whips really aren't
even worth what they're charging.

Hi Cairo dust Where did you see the whip? None sold when you posted as were in production. Jeremyym, Let me assure you the nylon whip cracks brilliantly. A bit of sour grapes here I think, but I will take the comments on board.

The nylon looks the best of them, but it's still not great. For one,
an indy whip has to have diamonds on the handle. This whip has
herringbone on the handle. The seams still twist and I see strand
drop bumps. They are cheap, so this is expected, but you could
sell them for much more if they were better quality.

Hi guys. Apologies if I missed much, but I'm new here.
I was after one of Graeme Roberts' (Midland Whips) nylon whips, Indy-style. I've checked his website different times, and the craftsmanship looks really good (even for nylon). However, the gentleman neither replies to emails nor answers the phone. It was only yesterday that I found out about this forum, and read a few posts dated February 2011 where it transpires that Mr. Roberts was going through some personal crisis.
While I wish him all the best, I think that it would be only fair that he left a note, advising potential customers, on his website. Something along the lines of "I am not in business any longer", or similar. In any case, something which would prevent people like me from building up expectations after browsing his website, and then becoming frustrated or disappointed when facing a complete silence, a total void.
We all have problems in life, but I think that the very least thing that Mr. Roberts should do is to close down his website altogether, or advise his customers of what's going on accordingly, on the very website. I am sorry if I cannot be more sympathetic...but you all guys know what it is like to have expectations about buying a great Indy whip, getting excited about it...and then nothing. Complete silence and confusion. That's not fair at all.
In any case...I might be wrong thinking that Graeme is out of business. Can anybody kindly throw some light on this? Do you know if Graeme is still making/selling whips and...if so, how to successfully make contact? Also, are his nylon whips good and screen-accurate if compared with the one offered by Wested?
Do you know who manufactures the nylon Wested one (currently going for £125.00)? Is it really not a good replica, not screen-accurate?
Finally (sorry for asking too much)...any other good manufacturer you can recommend for acquiring a good replica of the 'Raiders' whip (preferably in nylon)?
Thanks very much all!!

Hi Macauirr, Welcome to the forum! I regret to inform you that Midland Whips is not a good choice for a whip. Many people have been left in the dark about their outstanding whips orders with no means of a good way to contact and get a reply(this is not the first time this has happended with Midland Whips). As for the Wested whip I would also say that this is not a good choice for a quality whip. It has been talked about in this post or another that the quality does not look that great (not very screen acurate, twisted plaiting, etc.) However there are a few whip makers that make high quality Nylon whip that are reasonably priced and are more screen acurate than Wested's (mine included, http://www.classicbullwhips.com). Beside me their are a few others that I would recommend listed below. James from ClassicBullwhips = www.classicbullwhips.comRhett from Rhett Kelly Whips = www.nylonwhips.comSteve from Noreast Whips = www.neawhips.comGranted these whips are a little more then you were intending to spend but I hate seeing people spend there hard earned money and being disappointed when they get something inferior. Let me know if you have any questions about my whips or anothers, I would be more than happy to answer, I just hate seeing people getting poor quality whips. -James

Heh, luckily you have to first get into contact with Graeme to even place payment as there is no direct payment method on his site.
But yeah, don't buy from that fraud. I'm out $200.

All the best, guys. We'll sure be in touch again soon.
