there was one post which bullwhip posted which really anoyed me. the one where he was shelfing out several hundred dollars for a piece of gear. if i was the 12 year old i would definitly listen to more experienced indy fans, which all of you probably are considering he's 12

I don't think anything conveyed to him here wouldn't have been said to him face to face. That's a good thing.

Agreed. In these tough economic times when people are losing their jobs and even their homes, no one with a shred of decency should be publicly crowing about how much money they can get as a hand out. Sadly, on some Indy boards this lesson is even missed by a few obnoxious adults.

I can attest to this. Once I get power back (I'm here in CT where we got hit hard with that freak October snowstorm) I'll be selling some highly prized pieces of Indy gear here on the forums. Times are tough, and bills need to be paid. I'll get into the details when I have a chance to post the thread.
I'd say there is nothing wrong with sharing your excitement of acquiring a new piece of gear, but to brag about how much it cost is another thing entirely. djdindy hit it right on the head. People need to keep in mind that there are those who are without and we need to consider their feelings and not rub it into their faces.

Ben: In all honesty it's amazing he can write at 12 years old with this educational system. I have a nephew who just graduated from HS who it took 2 minutes to tell me how many quarters were in $2.75. I'm not kidding.

Heheh...I'm in Education too...Here in Japan (not quite the same...But not far..), and yeah, I agree..A 12 year old who CAN write eloquently SHOULD be praised....But it also strikes me as rather odd that in some posts he's all over the place, and in others he's using language my Grandfather (R.I.P.) would have been at home with.... I dunno...Just open questions on my part...If he is who he said, then I'm surprised and happy that he's that able to speak coherently..All I'd suggest as a change would be to think more before speaking and to write with an "end purpose" in sight... Regards..

I hadn't read all his posts but you make a good point. He could be 12 going on 40 for all we know. There are some weird people out there.

He actually inquired to me about deleting his account before he did
so. He said that after everyone of his posts, he basically got
attacked. I told him he shouldn't delete his account, just don't
post often. While what he said often was quite obvious or somewhat
condescending to people, you have to remember he is just a 12
year old kid that's very enthusiastic about Indy. Think back to when
you were twelve, you probably spoke every word that came to
your mind, didn't hold back on giving your opinion on everything,
and you couldn't keep your mind fixed on one thing for more than
a few minutes. This isn't just bullwhip jones, it's every 12 year
old that ever lived! Some are better about it than others. I do
think that some people were too hard on him, in some cases it
was directed at him, in others it was because of anger at an
outside source, for instance in the thread regarding the
outstanding orders to Graeme. Either way, he pursued the only
option he thought possible, and it was to get away from it. Some
just didn't realize he was just doing what every 12 year old does.

Anyway we can tell him to come back? The way you put it makes me feel really sorry for him. I don't think anyone wants to drive a member off the forum.

The problem I had wasn't the condescending tone, but the straight out insults to the guys who make the gear for all of us here...I know I did it a lot, but others also jumped on those points, and to date he showed no sign of even having noticed that nearly all of his posts about the gear-makers would say "this is great, better than XXX's gear, what do you guys think?" and then he'd post the same in a reverse post asking if people thought "YYY's" gear was the best as well as him..That's what I thought was silly..Even at 12 (especially at 12!) I listened when people said I was insulting people I didn't WANT to insult...That's the point...To date there's been no apology, no change and no sign that he even cares about what we say in advice...
I agree, I don't want to push people off these boards, but he wasn't pushed, he left because we kept asking him to think about his posts more before writing them....That's all...No one insulted him, no one said he wasn't welcome (he is.), all we asked is that he show the same respect to us and the guys who make the gear as he would like to receive himself.... I don't think that that was a mistake.
I'd be happy to see him back, but if he continues to post in the same tone, I'd say the same things to ask that he stop and consider the post instead of just writing....Just because he's 12 that doesn't get excused....Under 10 perhaps "bluntness" is forgiven, but "rudeness" should be corrected...And I stand firmly behind that.
He'd be welcome back..And I think I know a board where he posts, so I'll send a message to him there and ask if he wants to come back....

Just for the record, his birthdate (which was hidden from public view) showed him as being 29 years old.
Now, was that a typo by a 12 year old with a short attention span for something mudane like filling out personal info? Or was it the truth and he was simply playing a game?
Just something to chew on as I have no idea which is true.

Hello, I am CairoDust, formerly Bullwhip Jones. I finally signed back up. I owe everybody involved an apology.
I am immensely sorry for doing all that crap that I've done before. I was foolish and stupid. Ben, Nick, and Ken were trying to steer me right, and I was too hard headed to listen. I am terribly sorry, I will say that as many times as you please. I didn't want this. I brought this on myself. If the people of Indy Lounge will accept my foolish self again, then I will prove that I can gain your trust. I will from now on THINK before I POST. I will try my best to undo my past mistakes.
I cannot even BEGIN to say how sorry I am. Please find it in your heart to forgive me.
Also, I listed my birthdate as being thirteen, since that is the age limit, but you all know my real age. I'll be thirteen next year anyway.

As I said in my PM, nothing to forgive you for.....You're cool, just take a touch more time to re-read your post before posting and make sure that it's not offensive, or insulting, or leading nowhere, and THEN post it?
If you can do that we'll all benefit from your contributions!
Welcome back, and I hope this time you can push the discussions along some!
Regards.

Welcome back Cairo. Good to see you back. We all make mistakes and owning up to them says a lot about a person. Hang in there kid, even Indy had a penchant for mischief in his youth, er.. adulthood, um.. older age, well you get the idea.

Possibly the best (truest) line in all three movies. -Josh At 13-14 I ruined my knees in a single day ( kind of built up to that day, but the main offender was that day ) and ever since then I haven't been able to run or even jog without excruciating pain in my knees and ankles. So, I'm going to agree with that line 100%, I wasn't anywhere near the age for things like that, just the mileage I put on em. After that day I felt like
