I'm sure most of you saw my recent TOD gear pics and the one shot of me standing in the water. Well, needless to say my Skechers boots were water logged afterword. So I let them sit on and dry off in the sun. Thankfully, it's been hot and in the 90's around here. So it didn't take to long for them to dry out. Anyway.....to make an already long story short. I noticed the leather was drying out so I used some of my Pecard's leather dressing on the boots and not only did it work like a charm in darkened them up quite a bit. I LOVE the new color. This is the color I originally wanted for my boots. I'm very happy with the outcome that I wasn't really expecting. Here is a shot of the boots when I first bought them.... And here are a few shots of the boots now after putting the Pecard's on them

Sweet work, PH! Those came out great! I have to say, I liked the color of the boots originally, but they do look even better now! Now, the real question: how do they look with the rest of the gear? -GCR

That's a good question and one I'll have to get back with you on because I haven't worn them with my gear since I posted the TOD shots. I liked the original color too and I wasn't looking to change it. This was just a "happy accident". ;D I have a feeling these are going to go great with the rest of my gear.

Nice job Pitfall. I actually like the darker leather that a shoe will become with when you put a polish on it. I have never tried picards but found that Beeswax works fantastic. It breaths, doesn't pick up the dust say like Mink Oil or Silicone and it easy to put on. Just warm up the boot with a hair dryer and wipe it on. it melts into the pores of the leather. The Eygptians used to do that to waterproof stuff and it really works. The stuff I use and highly highly recommend is called Sno-Seal and I bought it at walmart. It is a great natural waterproofer. Thank you. Since I posted these pics the boots got really dirty again and then I cleaned them off. Since then they've lightened up slightly. Even though I'm probably going to go for another pair of boots down the road these have worked out quite well and I really think they're a great "close enough" boots at a good price.
