Does anybody have any good links to a good Gun belt? I'm looking for a more accurate one than my earlier (didn't have the quality, not even for a close enough).
I was looking at Todd's budget one, does anybody tried it or so?
Thanks, Railok.

Railock, I have one of Todd's gunbelts and it has held up nicely. Here's a photo of it with some other gear, though I did color and seal the inside of it as well (just my own quirkiness wanted that to be brown as well). I can recommend it as a good choice, though I'm sure there are others as well. I "think" Jeep will be doing one as well, though I'm not sure how far along that is. I hope this helps, Ken

Thanks Ken! This really helped me with my decision. The thing is, I really need one quickly so I'm going to go for the Todd's one.

i made my own gunbelt, with a brass coloured buckle, and built my own whip clips, but with a small snap fastener, mattblack about the size of a rivet, and rounded end to the whip clip.
my prototype holster was too small so i know now to make them bigger.

I too am getting ready to make my own gunbelt, I was curious as to what color to dye it. Is it just a dark brown? I've seen ones for sale that seem to have a redish hue, is that the way they look in 'real life' or is that just the picture? 'Hi' by the way. I'm new.

Welcome. I believe the gunbelt should be dark brown. That's always the route I've taken with mine. It certainly didn't have a reddish hue in any of the films......at least that I noticed.

I'll second what Pitfall just said about the gunbelt being dark brown. The shoes and bag strap always look like a nice, well worn dark brown leather color.... very much unlike the reddish tones that seem to prevail in these items, when sold new. I don't care if they "might" turn that color after many years of use. I want it to look the right color now. Welcome to Indy Lounge, BTW! I hope you enjoy the fresh soup, salad, and breadsticks lunch served daily at "Thugee's Diner". Be sure to ask for Chattar Lal to be your waiter. Ken

Lies!!! Lies I tell you!!! The gunbelt was actually MAGENTA!!! It was merely distressing and stage lighting that made it appear dark brown! ;D BTW, Ken, so now there's a Thugee's Diner, eh? Would this be a new establishment, or is Belloq's Bistro under new management? ;D Anyways, welcome to the lounge, Sivartyabb!!! -GCR

I would take a whiskey though.
Thanks, it's nice to be here. And thanks for the information.

I think 'magenta' in leather terms might be called 'Cordovan'. I only bring this up because it was one of my dye options at Tandy leather on Thursday.....and I used to have a pair of Cordovan wing tips, so I knew that was not the choice for me.

For some reason that sounds right. I think I saw a belt being sold on Ebay and the description of the color was called "Cordovan" and it sounds like what you've desribed. By the way the color of Indy's belt during the "Clipper Scene" in ROTLA was gray! ;D

A gutsy, yet feminine side?
Maybe I need two whiskies. Heck just leave the bottle, I'll see if I can burn this image out of my mind with alcohol.

Hey, I'll tell you a bump I'm having, so as not to completely derail the thread. I'm trying to find a metal holder that looks better than the one I picked up at Tandy for 29 cents. it has a bunch of filagris (sp?) that I'm going to have to grind off with my Dremel. If I'm not able to find one I can canabalize off of a garage sale/ thrift store belt.

Cordovan is supposed to be a very dark brown with a purplish undertone. This may work for the gunbelt, but the ones I have seen, Including an NH usually fall in the normal yellow brown range rather than the red range, and mid to dark brown at that. Apparently Walmart has a 'workbelt' that does well as a gunbelt substitute.

Dickies work wear has a belt I considered for a while, the belt had snaps for easy replacement of the buckle for a more SA one. But I never found one for under 25 dollars. And for that price I could buy a SA one already made www.zemskys.com/dickies/belts.htm Of course these are $12.99. The internet has made a liar out of me again. But it's the 1 1/2" Garrison belt in the brown. If someone out there is interested. You'd still have to replace the buckle and add the metal stay.

oh GAAWWD that shade of pink makes me nauscious im sure you need a licence to wear accessories like that in public... My belt is black anyways, i thought theres so many shades of brown that everyone will have their own variation. plus im sure that the whip clip changes in each film aswell sometimes it looks like its permanently attached to the belt and other times it is a seperate clip, as in ToD it slips around in front of his left leg
