Hey all! Since it's been a little more quiet than usual here I hoped people would appreciate some more random photos of a(nother) great hat from Mr. John Penman (I'm aware that there are several hundred already...Forgive me this indulgence.. ) Some of the photos may have been posted over on the COW, but I tried to send mostly newer ones here... Enjoy! (Fresh outta the box, and cosmically baffling, still IN the box..) The lid off.. Good God man, it's ALIIIIIIVE!!! (Actually, you'd swear the Beaver was still kicking with the touch of the felt...) Me, in it...Innit... ;D John's hats are high quality work...If anyone is reading this, and only considering ordering from him, I can only add my voice to the many already KNOWING this, he's THE man to order from.. Thank you John...This hat (and my next) is a real honour to wear.

Thanks Cali..
I reckon it works, yeah...I loved the colour...Wasn't too sure about the shape, but I wanted something close to my Adventurebilt, and since John has that sorted, I knew he'd come up trumps...Works very well I think..
Lovely stuff...
Thanks for the compliment mate!

That's a beautiful hat and a great color too. As an added bonus, you wear it well sir. I think John's hat boxes and general packaging look to be top notch... and make most companies look pathetic by comparison. Congrats, Ken

I think John's hat boxes and general packaging look to be top notch... and make most companies look pathetic by comparison. Congrats, Ken Ken, You just made my day. Thank you. It was a big step when I decided to go the route of putting all my hats (including the Henry) in these hat boxes. I know I made the right choice. They are simply fantastic. Peter and his family who makes these boxes are a ma and pa shop and their work is outa this world. I wanted peopl to open the shipping box and say " wow, look at the hat box!" and then say to themselves " imagine what's inside." I really wanted to slow people down when opening their package on the day it arrived. This way they would take closer look and understand that the few months they wanted for this handmade/custom item was done out of a labor of love and not just cracked out. peters hat boxes did that for me and by themselves are just outstanding pieces of work. Fifthchamber I love the way the hat looks on you. Just the way I want it it to look like. Photos are great. Thank you again for giving me the oputunity to make this hat. It was a pleasure to make.

BRILLIANT hat, fifthchamber! I can attest to the giddiness of that moment: opening the box and hat box from the Penman Hat Co. Those hat boxes are nice and tough, as well. I'm planning on getting a Penman Seaplane in granite when I'm able. Please post as many pics as you like, I say! The thing I love about that color is how different it looks in different kinds of light.
Congrats on the new hat, m8!

I agree. Granite grey is a great color. Very versital, can go with almost any color and work with what most of what we all wear.

You're very welcome John, and I agree with you. I think your packaging really adds to the whole experience... as well as complimenting the level of craftsmanship you put into the hat itself. It's also great to hear about the ma & pa shop that makes the boxes for you. That adds another layer of personal touch to the experience, IMO. Nice work and congrats once more to fifthchamber, Ken

Thanks gain ken,
The whole family works at the hat box company. I love chatting with Peter and his family. I like them very much and they put so much of themselves into their hat boxes. I'm fortunate to have found them and love working with them. There is quality people and products out ther being made today. I have found that they are that small little company that takes a heck of a lot of pride in their work.
A big thank you to you and John for having me here and letting me go one about this stuff.
Threads like these, where I don't have to read the review at all to know that fifth chamber is happy. I can tell by one photo that he is happy as all heck with it. the photo of him wearing it tells the whole story. He's one happy customer and that makes me very happy. Wear it in good health buddy.

Well..Since John mentioned it, and it's the very least I could do in return for all his work, here's a couple more for the interested out there... The hat (flash) from the front...The band and bow work is amazingly well done...The quality of the felt is clear from looking, but then you get to touch it and it REALLY hits home..This is one qualitypiece of clothing.. The inside sweatband...(Sorry I didn't fit the lacing onto the photo John! Needless to say, that's exceptionally well sewn as well..) In natural light...The grey is surprisingly "alive"...Much darker one moment and almost dark white the next depending on the sun hitting it..Lovely.. Last, my favourite, since I don't have the balls to try the "Penman pose" just yet... Thanks John!

No worries at all mate! Thanks for the comments!
I'd originally asked John for the same, a Raiders style bash in this colour (I went for the colour first, since I loved it so much).. But having looked at myself wearing the Adventurebilt I own, I knew that that shape suited my face, so asked John to change it over to a full on "Kingdom - Train hat" version...And I'm very glad I did so!
John, out of passing interest, was this your own block for the Train hat? Or did Steve send you his? Because it's stunningly close to my AB... Regards.

Yeah, thanks for letting me know John... That means most of the work on the block comes from eyesight? "Impressive....Most impressive.."
And Noah, yeah, the colour is lovely...I can't wait for Winter..It'll suit soo well...(On good days it almost appears brown too.. ;-)
(Joke..)
