100% better, Kaplan. Nice job on the darkening of the boots. They look so close to stock Aldens now. Only thing I wish Magnoli would change, is the slightly squared off sole. It throws the whole look off. you could probably take a sanding block and round them off yourself. Thanks for posting the pics, I was so curious how they would turn out. Mike

Kaplan, They look good. A small suggestion, unless you like the look -- I would put a bit of brown-tint Pecards on the moc-toe stitching to de-emphasize the contrast a bit. As I said, that is unless you like the white toe-stitching. If so, then disregard my suggestion! ~Jace

Thanks guys...I'll try the sanding block and the pecards (when I get some) and will do another update.

Those look pretty darn good once you did your magic to them. Nice work Kaplan.

Kaplan, That's what I did to my JCrew Vintage Work Boots when I got them -- the contrasting white toe-stitching was a bit too much for me. Actually, I used the brown-tint on the entire boot, and it toned down the reddish color nicely. Anyway, nice job on your boots!! I still need to get myself a pair of these, or break the bank & order some Aldens... ~Jace

thanks guys! Tyrloch, I used some kiwi black shoe polish before the first posted pics were taken, but it didn't really want to soak in. Is brown Pecard a little more heavy duty? As for the Aldens, the reason I chose these was the weight factor. These are a pound lighter than Aldens. Plus, I have a thing for giving Indy Magnoli my hard earned cash. Thanks for the great comments guys.

Hmmm...It might be. It may be a difference if the type of thread used as well. A cotton thread would soak up dye/polish more readily than something like nylon thread. But it couldn't hurt to try it anyway -- a contr of the brown-tint was only a few bucks froom Pecard. And that's a good point you make -- I think I would rather the lighter pair of boots myself!
