i am looking for my first indy jacket. the cheapest jackets i see are either the a-2 jackets with the ribbing, or jackets without the big front pockets, just handwarmers.
which type is better for a first jacket
thanx

What do you mean by ribbing? I would go with something that has the pockets, but I'm not sure what's closer from what you are describing. Can you post pics or links?
I'm also puzzled by your starting another thread to ask this question. Don't you already have a thread about this topic?

That being said, I'd say the second option, with the open cuffs and no patch pockets, because the A-2 jackets don't really look the part with the ribbed cuffs. (Also, my jacket's the second choice you listed, just take a look at my avatar!) Steven ARCHIVAL EDIT: My Avatar

I think the jackets without the knit cuffs and waistband (ribbing) are a little bit closer to the Indy look, even if they don't have the big patch pockets, just handwarmers.
