I've been viewing this website for awhile now and I've ordered two jackets for wested already, I know you have a lot of knowledge about wested, I'm trying to get a jacket for wested that looks like the LC jacket in the movie, my question is what exactly do I ask for? In terms of fit & look of the jacket, I don't want to send wested a laundry list of specs, the one thing I didn't like about my jackets were that the armholes seemed too low cut, so much so that its very hard to use the pockets, any advice would be helpful. Sincerely chris

Hi Chris,
May i jump in?
KT'S friend does have a great looking distressed Wested Authentic lamb . Myself is planning to order a custom LC jacket in authentic lamb. This i decide after months of comparing Wested authentic lamb pics and the Smithsonian, Novapelle looks great too but imho the screen used smithsonian jacket is thicker authentic lamb ....

The armholes are a little low cut, I've not been able to talk them into changing them on an LC, I think it's easy to go to far the other way and end up with a jacket that cuts in under the armpits, and it ends up hurting when you wear it.
The difficult to use pockets thing, I've had this when the jacket is too short. Really, really be very careful when ordering a jacket and pay particular attention to length. I've had a couple of jackets from vendors that were too short and trust me that really sucks.
There are a few things I asked for, big, wide scallopy flaps on the pockets pockets ending 2.5" above the hem, round centre point on the flap. No hem stitch, and no overstitch on the back of the sleeve. Also long straps, the LC straps are longer then the CS. Small gauge gold zipper (don't worry this will tarnish over time) with a simple pull not the swivel type and dark brown liner if possible. LC collar that is slightly encroaching onto the storm flap maybe 1/3 of an inch to 1/2?
A slightly wider stormflap can look good too 1 3/4"
Finally, single stitched arm holes, the CS are double stitched.
Authentic lamb is good also warm coloured lighter weight cowhides are good too.
Plus a bottle of strong alcohol (to drink) and courageous use of wet and dry sanding pads with water (on jacket).
Oh and I get the sleeves tapered, but you may not want or need that.

Ok, I already have a raiders in washed goat, and a CS in predistressed cow hide, the next one I want to get is a LC or a CS style jacket in lamb. ( I kinda prefer the CS version over the LC, I like the double stitch and the more pointy collar ) so this is what ill ask for, my size jacket with correct measurements , especially back measurement. No leather facings, smaller arm holes, one inch depth action pleats, and perhaps and nickel zipper. I'm a little worryed about sending them a list to them. I'm gonna try to keep my requests sort and sweet, KT would you have any advice about what else I should ask for, or how I could phrase my requests correctly, so hopefully I can get what I'm looking for. My real issue ( other than getting the right size ) is smaller armholes. I just think that on the LC & CS styles the armholes are just cut too deep into the body, but hopefully I can get them smaller. But do think peter did a great job on the collar, its just what I wanted and looks great.

I suggest writing your list down as bullet points (and then deleting anything that you don't feel is vital!) and then phoning and talking to Peter directly and talk through each.
Interesting some of the details you've talked about, the CS had facings and a antiqued brass zip... but you've zeroed in on Raiders details?
For both LC and CS I'd ask for no topstitching on the back seam of the sleeves and no hem stitch. (But that is just me!)
Let us know how you get on with the armholes.
And I urge you to measure several times to make sure you are happy with the back length, take into account what style of trousers you normally wear. The difference between low waist jeans and regular jeans have a drastic effect on how the jacket looks on you.

Well I took your advice KT, and I only asked for what I thought was vital, I did phone them but unfortunately they informed me that they don't do smaller arm holes, I dropped the nickel zipper, and mostly specified my measurements , I also ask for one inch action pleats ( I think they look better ) and no leather faceings. I ordered the jacket in authentic lamb, I can't wait till it gets here. I keep telling myself though " its the last one " lol I never would have thought I would have three jackets now, but its a good product for a good price. I may purchase more jackets in the future as gifts for family but nomore for myself. thanks for your advice KT.
