Pitfall's Brand New Indy Boots

I've been looking around for awhile for a pair of new "Indy" boots mainly because the ones I have now really aren't very comfortable and they're rather bulky. I've wanted the Carolina Huskers for sometime but they never seem to have any in my size, 13 D.

So I decided to give up on waiting for those and spent the afternoon at a few shoe stores here in town. My last stop was our local Shoe Carnival store and I was just kind of browsing when I spotted a pair of Skechers boots that I really liked but the floor models color was a little bit to light for my tastes. I decided though since they had my size I'd try them on. Well, when I opened the size 13 box I was surprised to see the color on these were a dark brown. I put the boots on and I loved them. I couldn't believe how light and comfortable they were and to top it off they looked "close-enough" for me to Indy boots. So I bought them.

Now the best part of all of this is online they run $65 dollars and at the store I got them for $35! They were cheaper than my other boots and they look and feel better!

I know there is a little bit more "stitching" on these boots than other "Close-Enoughs" out there and the sole of this particular boot is a little lighter than the others but I own another pair of regular Skechers and they were the same way. After a little bit of wear and tear outside the sole and stitching really darkened up thanks to dirt and other things. So I don't have a problem with the way the look now because they'll change over time.

For the price and the way the feel I couldn't be happier.

If you can find these for the price I got them at and you don't care if your boots don't look exactly like Indy's Alden's I highly recommend these.

NICE FIND!!! And what a steal, too!!! I've seen some of these in online while searching for decent Indy boots and I was always curious about them. I'd say they fit the bill quite nicely, no small feat considering it's hard enough to find a good mocc. toe workboot. I was very close to going for the Carolinas, but I kept getting scared off by the EEE or EE or whatever.

I might have to take a page from your book Harry and go search through some local stores to see what I can scare up for a cheap "close-enough" pair of boots.

These actually look good to me. I wouldn't mind getting a pair for daily wear. Ill have to see if I find them in my town. Good find in my opinion..

I hope this gives some people out there another option. Right now good "close-enough" Indy boots are rather scarce. So finding some and getting a good deal on the price is even harder to do.

I also kept running across these boots online while I was shopping. I kept skipping over them because the color of the boots online just looked to light. It wasn't until I actually saw them in person and put them on that I thought....Wow, these are great.

I don't know why they're so cheap at Shoe Carnival here in town. They weren't on sale as far as I could tell. I mean your looking at close to or over $70 if you buy them online. So try searching the local malls and stores in town that carry Skechers and you might get lucky and find them cheaper. If you have a chain of Shoe Carnival's.....the obvious thing would be to go there first. ;D

Those are the worst alden knock-offs I have ever seen! they even have an S on the side of the heel!

Who in their right mind would walk around in, and trust their instep to a shoe that costs less than a decent pair of silk pantaloons?

Not me sir. I will not stand for this cheapening of the hobby. I will not just stand idly by while innocent feet are tortured from the sole up by these "hip", "modern" style mock-boots. I charge you sir, to return these puddle jumpers and purchase a fine pair of treadless work boots for the low, low price of $290. We must have standards you know!

Ok.... I have taken my meds now. If you know me (though most don't claim to), I have no need for a pair of Aldens or any shoe that costs that much money. I take no pot shots at those who do want or own them, it's just not the way I want to spend my money. That said, I think any pair of close-enough boots that you can really use in the real world, at a fair price... are ok by me!

Yeah, I think I got lucky with these. The boots have a nice worn in look right out of the box. I wanted something that was closer to Indy than what I had yet would go with my regular everyday clothes as well. The best part is they're comfortable and I think I can actually run in these without feeling like I've got a pair of weights strapped to my feet.

I'm anxious to see how these look with the rest of my gear.
