Yeah, I saw these awhile ago and I usually check Ebay every other night. These are the right size but they are to wide.

Ken Or a couple extra pairs of socks ;D Seriously, does anyone have a pair of these? They look pretty dang good, and I'm currently Indy-Bootless, (I narrowly missed snagging a pair of the J.Crew vintage workboot dealies before they went out of stock ) so I might consider trying to get me a pair...expecially at a nice price like this. -GCR

Tone has a pair or two of these, and is a big fan of the Huskers as all around boots as well being Indy close-enoughs. I know Indakin has them too, but he isn't around much for you to ask any questions you might have.

Ken ;D Oh, believe me I thought about doing something like that. I have such narrow feet though I'd think even with the extra padding it wouldn't look right. That's the worst part about buying shoes online.....you can't try them on. It very well could be that a size 12 D in these that I also saw on Ebay would fit my feet but I don't want to risk the chance of buying them and then they're to small.

Good point, Harry. I usually don't try too many things on before I buy 'em. I figure a size is a size and if it looks like it'll fit, it'll probably fit. But shoes are different, and buying shoes on Ebay might not be the best idea for me (hell, I've had horrible luck with Ebay in general...don't even get me started on the vintage hats!!! ) I mean, how wide is EEE? Is that sorta normal-wide or is that like Sasquatch-wide? And do these tend to run big or small as sizes go? -GCR

I have a pair too. Good hardwearing boots that you really can do some work in too!

I have a pair and they're GREAT boots. I wear mine at least four days a week. They're really comfortable and give good support, and they're tough as nails too.

Winston & KT, how do these boots run, size wise? Big, small, normal? I have a size 12 - 12.5 foot that can squeaze into a size 11.5 but sometimes needs as large as a 13 depending on the brand, so if these tend to run a little small, a 13 might work for me. But again, just how wide is EEE?

I can only speak for mine as far as sizing. They run very close to the actual foot size. No need to accomodate for the steel-toe comfort, etc. If you wear a size 10 sneaker, get a size 10 boot. These are best ordered with your actual foot size to avoid that Ronald McDonald curl at the toes when shoes are worn too big. The steel-toe will exaggerate that if the rest of your foot isn't filling in the instep. Yes, these are hard wearing boots and they're so comfortable it's hard to believe they're steel-toe, until you kick something. If you're a stickler, the sole might get to you but under a pair of pantlegs, they fit the bill exrtremely well - without looking "hikey".

I agree with Tone, I think they run right on for size. I wear a 13 in everything and the 13 Huskers fit just fine.

Excellent, thanks Tone & Winston! Maybe I'll give 'em a shot...I just hope the EEE isn't gonna make the fit all screwy...

That's why I didn't pick these up when I saw them originally, GCR. It sounds like you and I have the same problem with shoes.
If you buy them let us know how the width of the boots turn out for you.

I posted the availability of these last night on the other site. I have three pairs and rotate them out at work. Very nice boots once you break in the ankles. They are fairly light even with the steel toe. I was able to pick up my last pair off ebay for $25 bucks! The seller is: shoesforauction. Here is a link to his store: stores.ebay.com/Shoes-For-AuctionJust do a search for these terms: “Carolina brown 6” work boots” Just for reference, here is the auction I won: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160073656676So get 'em while you can, cause there will not be another production run.

Sweet deal, Indy500! Can't beat a pair of these for $25.00!
Yep. There is definitely that ankle factor when these are new. I thought it would take longer for those to break in but I did one of those grin and bear it first day things and they've been very comfortable every since the second day.
Has anyone tried to resole a pair of these? Can they be resoled? The tops show no sign of falling apart yet. Scuffed yes. Deteriorated? No.

I would say no to the resole. The factory sole is glued on to the leather so there is nothing to stitch the replacement sole onto. I'm pretty sure that's fake stiching on the factory sole.

These boots are really nice and comfortable, I like them but I'm hoping to get a pair of Alden's next. Personally I find the Carolina huskers to be pretty nice, mine have held up for 2 years without showing to much were and tear. And I've worn them in all weather conditions. Sincerely, Pro.wex

Sweet deal, Indy500! Can't beat a pair of these for $25.00! Most of his auctions are Buy It Now, but he has a few that start at $24.99. No one bid on my auction, so that's what I paid

I don't understand why they don't have a 13 D or at least a 12 and 1/2 D. I keep seeing these same boots and sizes pop up over and over again. So they must be getting these from somewhere.

I really like the way mine have come along - without worrying about maintaining them. They're a legitimate workboot - designed to actually be comfortable while protecting the toes, and "while working". They do weather in nice and Indyesque, though.

Hey, thanks Tone!!! I'll have to give these some serious thought. You know...the ONE thing that really bugs me about the Alden Boots is that I live less than 15 minutes away from the Alden Shoe Factory in Middleborough, MA but if I wanted to buy a pair of Aldens, I'd have to order them online from a shop on the other side of the country... That and nearly $300 is a lot of dough for a pair of boots. -GCR

Okay, living next to their factory and not being able to buy any is a real bummer. Maybe you just haven't met the right factory employee yet? ::cough:: I'm not, uh......not saying......that any type of persuasive deals should be attempted, of course. $300 IS a lot of money for a pair of shoes. Especially considering the sole intent behind buying the 405s in particular.
