The Nowak seems to trounce the US Wings rather handily. Nice jacket.

That Nowak is by far my most favourite jacket I have ever owned. It was custom made for me, and it shows when I wear it. It's my perfect Raiders jacket. My 2nd most favourite jacket goes to my Nowak CS.

Would you rather take the Ford Focus or do you prefer a customized ride? Both will get you there and both fill a place in the market.

Actually, both won't get you there. I usually do not fit into standard sizing.... so I almost always have to go custom. If I get a standard size jacket, from say US Wings, it won't fit me right.

Actually both do. No comparison. For about 1/4 the price of a Nowak, you can get an Indy jacket that will last. It may not be tailor made to the buyer ,but there are people that need to go custom, and for them, it is the best option, but not the only option for others. There are different needs out there and different jackets offered at different pirces fill those needs. Wings usually offers Long sizes anyway. It just depends on what you want and what you are willing to spend, but holding up a Nowak that is hand made to specific measurements to an OTR import jacket that is mass produced in Hong Kong is fruitless. Duh, let me see which one is best?

I have owned Indy jackets from numerous manufacturers. I usually don't keep them because they don't fit me. That's a fact. I will always be unhappy with, say, a US Wings jacket because it won't fit me. A good fit is essential for having a jacket that you're happy with.

I am not trying to dog you, but the Raiders jacket was a light weight prop. I believe that these Tony Nowak jackets are over made, over priced and over rated. Since a certain fan introduced TN to the fans, the push was on, as if you were not a 'true' legitamate fan unless the guy had a Nowak. Then there was a certain amount of you need one of these, be a part of this 'exclusive' club, some of this was guilt due to the price. Wrong motives.
The jacket that most looks like the screen jacket is the cheapest. These USW jackets are too tapered on the back panel- looks like a cape but they are cheap.

I really don't know what you're saying about the Nowak. What club? People wanted the jackets because they wanted them. Do you own a Nowak? My Nowaks are by far the best jackets I have ever owned, and it has nothing to do with the name.

Wow... I think I've now really heard it all...
He just... criticized the jacket for being... too nice?
I'm flabbergasted. That's absolutely the dumbest thing I've heard today.

I think he was criticizing people who think they are so nice and feel they have to buy them. Which is still strange as they are the best jackets anyone could buy. I also don't think that's the mentality of it either.

I have honestly never encountered the type of snobbery you describe. To the contrary, most people in this hobby are very supportive to their fellow gearheads, regardless of the price of their jacket.

In relation to the film jacket, sure. But you're buying a quality made jacket and he's upset that people are spending more money to get something that's made better than it was in the film? That's the stupidest criticism.

I have been wanting the style of the Indy Jacket for years now when the cooler months hit Florida. And its fades away with everyday life and the coming of the warmer days. I have to tell you in my personal opinion looking at everyones new Jackets every year for the last three I think the wings Jackets just look so much better then the other companies. Maybe its the look of the leather or they are not as screen accurate putting the placement of certain things on the jacket in different places. Probably though its the pictures of the fit ive seen on larger people like me. Dont know what it is exactly but just dont like what Ive seen from the other companies at all. But this Christmas for sure going to pick me one up from Wings.

Just out of interest, Nick, was it your request to have the Wings pockets so high up? That looks like a slight error? The pockets should be closer to the hem at the base...Indeed, if you cut the last 3-4cm off you'd hit it, and match the Nowak as well...Was that something you requested them to keep for you?
I happen to think the Nowak rocks...I love Wested...They make GREAT jackets (for me), but I recently came into a Vanson...And one wear of that showed me what a GOOD jacket SHOULD feel like...In both construction, and materials it is light years ahead of the Wested's I have...So, saying that something is "just" about the money misses the mark...What is needed is a good balance for the individual...Not just price wise, but sizing, communication, quality, and look all need to be factored in when choosing what jacket to buy for yourself....
It's hard....I like the Wested Indy jackets, since the size fits my shape great and I know that it works for me....They're also quick with my emails, and have always gone out of their way to help me with questions or changes I wanted made on short notice...So...
But everyone has different needs, and we all look different...I love the Nowak jackets, although I wouldn't pay for one, since I don't see them as being that good (Since Tony died at least.....I don't think the business has done as well as it should have done since then...R.I.P.)...But, that doesn't mean that they suck..Far from it...
Regards...

The Nowark is beautiful. The Wings pocket thing has been an ongoing problem - and that surprises me. They've had plenty of time to sort it out by now. Then there was the whole escalating price fiasco that really put me off their products. Wested customer service lets them down. I'm glad they answer your emails because they answer about one in four of mine!

The high pockets on the Wings was a manufacturer error, and when I emailed Sarge about it he told me it was my own fault for wanting everything to be 100% SA. I replied back saying that it has nothing to do with being SA, and that I want a good looking jacket. He responded in a long email about how much service he has done to this country and blah blah blah it is still my fault.
Won't be doing business with Wings again.

That same manufacturing error has been going on since the launch of that jacket - which makes it their fault 100% by now
