Hey guys, I'm new here posting, but have been looking around for some time. I bought a todds raiders jacket and it looks great. I distressed it with a pocket knife and it looks even better. However,it is much thinner then i ever thought it would be. I would like the same jacket but a little thicker. How much thicker is the wested jacket vs todds? If you have touched or seen both please let me know. Thanks.

That's a pretty awkward question, as there's no straight answer - it really depends on what "hide" you go for Typically, goat and lamb tend to be thinner/lighter weight hides, yet still retaining strength (goat more so than lamb). Then you have the various cow hides, and finally horse hide is the thickest (if memory serves) that Wested offer It also depends on what you want the jacket for - is it meant to be a very heavyweight, winter weather jacket, or just a durable 3-season jacket? I've only got 2 Wested jackets, with 1 being leather (the other's cotton drill), and it's made of washed goat. This is a fairly light hide, yet very strong and pretty darn warm - it helps that the torso lining is cotton too! To put this in perspective, we're currently in weather of average temps around 6-10*C, and while wearing a cotton undershirt and Wested Indy shirt, the jacket is actually comfortably warm - moving quickly makes me slightly mithered!

i get what you're saying. I'm talking lamb vs lamb. My todds is lamb and it feels like a leather t-shirt it's so thin. Was just wondering if the wested lamb is just as thin and light.

I have a Wested lamb that I purchased in 2000 and it is just a tad bit thicker than the Todd's I purchased just last year. I must say however, I prefer the look and feel of my Todd's over the Wested.

I haven't seen a Todd's Jacket but the Wested is soft and thin, although nowhere near "a t-shirt" feel.. It's been more than enough to keep me warm through 0 degree winter here in Tokyo, and although it's light and supple, it doesn't feel "thin" really..I love my Wested..

And interestingly, I think the Wested lining is now brown...My first Last Crusade had the maroon coloured lining, which doesn't look bad at all, but the new Custom Raiders has a brown very close to the leather itself...It may have something to do with the "custom" side of it, and the LC jacket being an imported one? But I can't say for sure.....

I guess the satin could be described as maroon... never thought of it as such myself! Of course they make them custom so you could order a different colour, I have a black lining in one of mine. The nylon liner in the Temple of Doom is brown if that helps. The brown cotton is SA in my opinion, watch the scene where he is hanging off the statue you get a good shot of the inside of the jacket.
