Something I've been wondering about - I have two Noel Howard shirts--a ROTLA and a TOD/LC. When I got the first one I was surprised to find that the epaulets have a slight taper to them--that is, they're wider at the base than they are at the button-slit end. I figured this was a peculiarity of that particular run of shirts or something, but when I received the second one it was the same thing. It's pretty hard to verify this detail from watching the flicks or even from screen grabs, but I still say the movie shirts had uniform-width epaulets (and as far as I know, none of the replica shirts [Wested, etc.] have the tapered ones). Can anyone shed any light on this? It'd take a load off my shoulders.

From what I've noticed from the film, in LC the epaulettes were more tapered and shorter while in RoTLA you see straight long epaulettes.

I don't know how screen accurate it is, but my MBA Shirt from 1999 has tapered epaulets. They start out at about 1 1/2 inches where they meet the arm/shoulder seam and end at about 1 1/8 inches up by the button.
